Our next family assembly will take place on the last day of

term, Friday 12th April. This assembly will be a special

assembly to celebrate Easter. An Easter hat parade and

family bbq will follow the assembly. Please come along and

celebrate with us. All are welcome. The assembly starts at

10:40am.

It is now only a little over two weeks until our own is on as

we approach the inaugural running of our communication

camp for students and families commences. This camp is

designed to provide our students and their families and

support staff an opportunity work on skills in using a

robust comprehensive Augmentative and Alternative

Communication system such as PODD (printed book and

iPad) or Proloquo2Go on the iPad. The camp will be

staffed by leaders in the field of Augmentative and

Alternative Communication and will present an incredible

opportunity for parents and carers to learn more about

supporting their child’s communication. A reminder the

camp will take place on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 April at Bullimbal. Please add this important event to your

diaries as we would like to see as many families come

along as possible.

A parent of a child who attended a similar camp had this

to say about the experience:

My daughter and I love AAC camp. As a Mum I learn so much about other families AAC journeys. My daughter gets so excited to be part of camp activities with all instructors using AAC sharing in a AAC rich environment. Meet our presenters: over the next few newsletters we

will introduce you to our three presenters for this camp. As

previously mentioned we will have two Speech

Pathologists, Jane Farrall and Helen Tainsh, and one

Occupational Therapist, Fiona Beauchamp.

This newsletter we will focus on Fiona Beauchamp.

Fiona is an occupational therapist with over 13 years of

experience working in private practice, special education,

adults services and early intervention. Fiona is highly

motivated to support children to learn and to support

families to enhance their child’s development.

Fiona presents nationally and internationally at

conferences and delivering workshops. We are very

fortunate to have her at our communication camp to

provide an Occupational Therapy perspective to our

communication programs and to assist you in promoting

your child’s communication development.

plants. In our "white Flower Experiment" we added food dye to the water of petunias. Students posed a question,

made predictions, observed what happened and recorded the results. Flowers in the classroom have also provided a

great focus for our visual arts program: the students have represented plants in different ways including drawing,

painting, photography and collage.
