Where does my e-portfolio fit in?

• Knows (AKT)• Can (CSA)• Does (e-portfolio)

• It’s the ‘doing’ that is the most important. The evidence of ‘doing’ is used to demonstrate progression and validated at your ESR and ARCP

Why is the ESR important?

• An Educational Supervisors Review (ESR) is conducted every six calendar months for all GP trainees, as prescribed by the Gold Guide. The ESR format draws together information from many sources in order to provide regular, formative feedback to the trainee, and to inform the decision making of the ARCP panel

Reflective log entries

Vs

• Be general and specific• Write in a natural way and describe your feelings• Reflect on what went well/not so well• How can I improve• Learning need generated ? for my PDP• Writing a log entry stating you have attended a course doesn’t count, writing what you have learnt and whether or not your learning has changed your practice does count• Quality not quantity

What constitutes reflective practice?

• Internal conversation – How you feel about the situation– Write about your reaction to the situation– Use feeling words

• Openness – You are willing to highlight areas of your performance that fall short of

what might be expected –

• Learning – Show what you need to learn & be specific about how you are going

to achieve this
