We have various programs throughout the week, some are required (everything highlighted in teal) while others are optional. Additionally, you will be able to build your Fall Welcome Week (FWW) bag throughout the week. We have marked events on the schedule where items will be given away. Make sure to bring your bag each day to collect items. Read through the schedule carefully and review all that Ship Fall Welcome Week has to offer!

Thursday, August 19Your first night will be an exciting one, as we kick off Welcome Week with our energetic welcome session and keynote speaker Fred Banny. Afterwards, you can relax and hang out with your new Shipmates at Big Red’s Beach Bash. The first night is an important one, so don’t miss out!

If you did not receive your Ship ID at summer orientation but have submitted and received an approved photo ID picture, you can pick up your ID when you check-in for FWW. Commuters will be directed to check-in at 5:00pm and then go to dinner in the dining hall before commuter meeting.

Friday, August 20Before your first day of class, we want to make sure you start your first semester off right. Academic Day programming is required for all new students, and highlights important tools and resources as you start your academic career at Ship. Meet your First-Year Experience (FYE) Peer Anchor and engage in small group discussions with your classmates during the Intro to FYE session. Transfer students can meet your fellow transfers to get tips on getting ready for the first day of classes at Ship.After lunch, enjoy various virtual sessions of your choice to expand your mind and refine your skills. Additionally, you will meet with leadership from your academic college and faculty from your department who will guide you towards degree completion.After Academic Day, get some rest because you will not want to miss what we have planned for you. Whether you are an avid disc golf player or it’s your first time, enjoy some time with your new Shipmates on Ship’s course. Disc golf is like golf, but with a flying golf disc to reach the basket. Keep score with your friends and see who can make it to the basket with the least number of throws. Ship’s nine-hole course starts near Burd Run Pavilion, runs throughout the Student Recreation Complex, and concludes outside Seavers Hall. Discs can be borrowed from the Residence Hall front desk to play.

E-MAIL ADDRESSYour campus e-mail account is your primary means of communication from members of the Shippensburg University community. The university will only send e-mails to your campus account. Your responsibilities are to:• Regularly check your SU e-mail and read

your messages at least four times per week.• Make sure that your e-mail does not exceed

storage limits.• If you choose to forward your e-mail from

ship.edu to another e-mail server, you are responsible for making sure that the e-mail is properly forwarded and working.

• Make sure that your SPAM filter or e-mail sorter does not delete official university correspondence.

FIRST DAY ATTENDANCEThe first day attendance policy allows faculty to remove you from a course if you do not attend the first class session and do not provide notice to the faculty member or department secretary. This also applies to the first class after you add a course during schedule adjustment.If you are dropped from a course for not attending the first class, you may only reschedule it if it remains open during schedule adjustment. Even if you do not attend the first class, you are still responsible for dropping the course during schedule adjustment. Otherwise, you may remain scheduled for the course and receive a grade of “F” if you do not attend. You may also be charged for the course.

MAILING ADDRESSMake sure that your permanent and local mailing addresses are valid. You may update them in the myShip portal.

PARKINGIf you plan to operate a car on campus, you will need to purchase a parking decal. Failure to register your vehicle will result in a fine. Students can register your vehicle for a parking permit online by visiting PARKING.SHIP.EDU.

Once you have completed the online registration process, you will have the option to purchase the permits online by credit card. After registering, you must bring your student ID, operator’s license, and vehicle registration to the Shippensburg University Student Services, Incorporated (SUSSI) office located in the CUB (Rm. 206 Fiscal Office) to receive your parking permit.

STUDENT ID CARDSAll members of our campus community are required to have a student ID—the official identification card for Shippensburg University. Your student ID provides access to essential campus services and facilities. For more information about your SU ID visit, SHIP.EDU/LIFE/FACILITIES/CUB/ONLINE_PHOTO_SUBMISSION.

REGISTRATION PAYMENTStudents who do not pay for scheduled classes will have their schedules canceled and will not be permitted to attend class until they pay. Students who do not pay by the billing deadline will be assessed a $100 late fee.NO REFUNDS will be issued for ANY CLASSES dropped after the end of the schedule adjustment period. RELEASE OF STUDENT INFORMATIONUnder federal law, Shippensburg University may release directory information about current students. Directory information includes name, home/local address, phone number, enrollment status, e-mail address, major, degree, and honors.

This information may be provided to callers and may be available on the university’s website. If you do not want this information to be released, you must notify the Registrar’s Office to withhold your directory information.You may change your information release option by completing the “Place or Remove Hold of Directory Information” form available at SHIP.EDU/REGISTRAR/REGISTRAR_OFFICE_FORMS and submitting it to the Registrar’s Office.

REFUND SCHEDULEThe refund policy is mandated by the Board of Governors of Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education. That policy is available through Student Accounts.NOTE: In some cases a student may owe a balance to the university after Title IV aid is returned.Information concerning the detailed application of the refund policy can be obtained by contacting the Student Accounts Office at (717) 477-1211. Refund polices are subject to change by the State System.
