Max’s first product, a dual-light electric fire, inspired the Dualit name. His flip-sided toaster was patented in 1946.

In 1952 he designed a new commercial six-slot toaster which bears a significant resemblance to today’s Classic Toaster.

COMMERCIAL SUPERSTAR

By the 1960s the company was in new premises on the Old Kent Road, London. The commercial toaster was already well-established in catering circles.

At the start of each toasting cycle, a thermal probe measures the temperature inside the toaster and our patented algorithm adjusts the toasting time accordingly; adding time if you’re in a cold room toasting your first slice of bread, or reducing time if you’re in a hot room toasting your fifth slice of bread. For every fraction of a degree the temperature changes, the toast time is adjusted respectively, ensuring perfectly consistent browning on every cycle.

• Use the freshest coffee. Dualit’s NX® Capsules and ESE Pods are specially packed to preserve maximum freshness. Alternatively use beans and Dualit’s Coffee Grinder

• Flush hot water through the machine and filter holder to ensure they are clean and of optimum temperature

• If using ground coffee, measure the correct dose and tamp the surface lightly to level, then wipe clean the edge of the filter cup to ensure a good seal

• Timing is crucial. If using a machine without automatic dose control, stop extracting when the espresso turns pale

• ALWAYS keep your machine clean

An espresso is the basis for every coffee drink. A perfectly extracted 30-35ml shot has a smooth aroma, dense crema and complex taste. Easier to master than you think, there’ll be no stopping you!

• Pour fresh cold milk into the frothing jug no higher than for foam, ½ for steamed milk

• Burst steam through the wand to prime it

• Start off with the nozzle just under the surface of the milk and turn on the jet. For steamed milk, move it further down. Keep the jug tilted to create a vortex

• Don’t overheat the milk. The ideal temperature is 65 – 70 degrees. Dualit’s Barista Kit contains a thermometer with foolproof indicator dial

• Tap the jug once on the table and gently swirl to texturise

• ALWAYS rinse the steam wand clean after use
