[ CleaningUnplug the set from the wall outlet beforecleaning or polishing it. Do not use liquid cleanersor aerosol cleaners. Use a cloth lightly dampenedwith water for cleaning the exterior of the set.

[ Water and MoistureDo not use power-line operated sets near water for example, near a bathtub, washbowl, kitchensink, or laundry tub, in a wet basement, or near aswimming pool, etc.

[ Power-Cord ProtectionRoute the power cord so that it is not likely to bewalked on or pinched by items placed upon oragainst them, paying particular attention to theplugs, receptacles, and the point where the cordexits from the appliance.

[ AccessoriesDo not place the set on an unstable cart, stand,tripod, bracket, or table. The set may fall, causing

serious injury to a child or an adult, and seriousdamage to the set. Use only a cart, stand, tripod,bracket, or table recommended by themanufacturer.

Notes on using your camera

[ Internal memory and MemoryStick Duo back up

Do not turn off the camera or remove thebatteries or Memory Stick Duo while theaccess lamp is lighted, as the internalmemory data or Memory Stick Duo datamay be destroyed. Always protect your databy making a back up copy.

[ Notes on recording/playback

This camera is neither dust-proof, nor splash-proof, nor water-proof. Read Precautions(page 29) before operating the camera.

Before you record one-time events, make a trialrecording to make sure that the camera isworking correctly.

Be careful not to get the camera wet. Waterentering the inside of the camera may causemalfunctions which in some cases may not berepairable.

Do not aim the camera at the sun or other brightlight. It may cause the malfunction of yourcamera.

Do not use the camera near a location thatgenerates strong radio waves or emits radiation.The camera may not be able to record or playback properly.

Using the camera in sandy or dusty locationsmay cause malfunctions.

If moisture condensation occurs, remove itbefore using the camera (page 29) .

Do not shake or strike the camera. In addition tomalfunctions and an inability to record images,this may render the recording medium unusable,or cause image data breakdown, damage or loss.

Clean the flash surface before use. The heat offlash emission may cause dirt on the flashsurface to become discolored or to stick to theflash surface, resulting in insufficient lightemission.

[ Notes on the LCD screen The LCD screen is manufactured using

extremely high-precision technology so over99.99% of the pixels are operational foreffective use. However, there may be some tinyblack points and/or bright points (white, red,blue or green in color) that constantly appear onthe LCD screen. These points are normal in themanufacturing process and do not affect therecording in any way.

[On image data compatibility This camera conforms with DCF (Design rulefor Camera File system) universal standardestablished by JEITA (Japan Electronics andInformation Technology IndustriesAssociation).

Playback of images recorded with your cameraon other equipment and playback of imagesrecorded or edited with other equipment on yourcamera are not guaranteed.

Viewing/deleting images

1 Press (Playback).If you press (Playback) button when the camera is powered off, the camera is turned on in theplayback mode. If you press again, switches to recording mode.

2 Select an image with b / B on the control button.Movie:Press z to play back a movie. (Press z again to stop playback.)Press B to fast forward, press b to rewind. (Press z to return to normal playback.) You cannot listen to the audio with this camera when a movie is played back. To listen to the audio,

connect with external outputs such as a TV, a speaker, etc.

Changing the settings Menu/Setup

1 Recording: Turn on the camera, then set the mode dial.Playback: Press (Playback) button.

Different items are available depending on the position of the mode dial and Recording/Playback mode.

2 Press MENU to display the menu.

3 Select the desired menu item with b / B on the control button. If the desired item is invisible, keep pressing b / B until the item appears on the screen. Press z after selecting an item in the Playback mode.

4 Select a setting with v / V.The setting you select is zoomed and set.

5 Press MENU to turn off the menu.

Create REC. Folder Creates a folder in a Memory Stick Duo for recording images.

LCD Backlight Selects the brightness of the LCD backlight when using thecamera with batteries.

Beep Selects the sound produced when you operate the camera.

Language Selects the language to be used to display the menu items,warnings, and messages.

Initialize Initializes the setting to the default setting.

File Number Selects the method used to assign file numbers to images.

USB Connect Selects the USB mode to be used when connecting the camerato a computer or a PictBridge compliant printer using thededicated USB cable.

Video Out Sets the video signal output according to the TV color system ofthe connected video equipment.

Clock Set Sets the date and time.

Battery life and memory capacity

Battery life and number of images that can be recorded/viewed

The tables show the approximate number ofimages that can be recorded/viewed and thebattery life when you shoot images in[Normal] mode with batteries at fullcapacity and at an ambient temperature of25C (77F). The numbers of images thatcan be recorded or viewed take into accountchanging the Memory Stick Duo asnecessary.Note that the actual numbers may be lessthan those indicated in the table dependingon the conditions of use. The battery capacity decreases as the number of

uses increases and also over time. The number of images that can be recorded/

viewed and the battery life are decreased underthe following conditions: The surrounding temperature is low. The flash is used frequently. The camera has been turned on and off many

times. The zoom is used frequently. The brightness of LCD Backlight is set to up. The battery power is low.

The values shown for alkaline battery are basedon commercial norms, and do not apply to allalkaline batteries in all conditions. The valuesmay vary, depending on the batterymanufacturer/type, environmental conditions,product setting, etc.

The supplied alkaline battery is for trial use

only. You may need to purchase an additionalbattery for regular camera use.

The number of still images and the length of time for movies may vary depending on theshooting conditions and the recording mediums. For details on the image size, see page 14 .

The number of images listed is for when [Mode] is set to [Normal]. When the number of remaining shootable images is greater than 9,999, the >9999 indicator appears. You can resize the images later ([Resize], page 20 ). A Memory Stick Duo can contain up to 40,000 images on this camera.

If the Memory Stick Duo has already 40,000 images stored, you can not shoot more images on thiscamera. Also Memory Stick Duo will not be able to playback images when the number of stored imagesexceeds 40,000 on this camera.

Troubleshooting

If you experience trouble with your camera, try the following solutions.

Please understand that you give your consent that the contents of the internal memory may bechecked when you send your camera to be repaired.

The battery remaining indicator is incorrect, or sufficient battery remainingindicator is displayed but the power runs out too quickly.

This phenomenon occurs when you use the camera in an extremely hot or cold location. When using alkaline batteries/Oxy Nickel Primary Battery (not supplied), the displayed time

remaining may not be correctly indicated. The batteries are discharged. Install new batteries or charged Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries

(not supplied) (page 9) . When using the Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries, the poles of batteries or the terminals of the

battery cover are dirty so the batteries are not charged sufficiently. Clean them with a cottonswab, etc.

When using the Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries, the displayed time remaining differs from thecurrent one due to the memory effect, etc. Fully discharge and then charge the batteries tocorrect the display.

The batteries are dead. Replace them with new ones.

The batteries run down too quickly. You are using the camera in an extremely cold location. The batteries are dead. Replace them with new ones. When using the Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries, charge them sufficiently.

Camera power is turned off automatically when you open the battery/MemoryStick Duo cover. This is not a malfunction. Turn off the camera before you open the battery/Memory Stick

Duo cover.

1 Check the items below, and refer to Cyber-shot Handbook (PDF).

2 Remove the batteries, and insert the batteries again after about one minute,and turn on the power.

3 Initialize the settings (page 21) .

4 Consult your Sony dealer or local authorized Sony service facility.

Cannot turn on the camera. Install the batteries correctly (page 9). Properly connect the AC Adaptor (not supplied). The batteries are discharged. Install new batteries or charged Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries

(page 9) . The batteries are dead. Replace them with new ones.

The power turns off suddenly. If you do not operate the camera for about three minutes while the power is on, the camera

turns off automatically to prevent wearing down the batteries. Turn on the camera again(page 11) .

The batteries are discharged. Install new batteries or charged Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries(page 9) .

Your camera cannot record images. Check the free capacity of the internal memory or Memory Stick Duo (pages 25, 26). If it is

full, do one of the following: Delete unnecessary images (page 15) . Change the Memory Stick Duo.

You are using the Memory Stick Duo with the write-protect switch, and the switch is set tothe LOCK position. Set the switch to the recording position.

You cannot record images while charging the flash. Set the mode dial to , , , , , , , or when shooting still images. Set the mode dial to when shooting movies.

Cannot insert dates on images. This camera does not have a feature for superimposing dates on images. You can print or save

images with the date inserted using Picture Motion Browser.

Your camera cannot play back images. Press (Playback) button (page 15) . The folder/file name has been changed on your computer. When an image file has been processed by a computer or when the image file was recorded

using a model other than that of your camera, playback on your camera is not guaranteed. The camera is in USB mode. Delete the USB connection.

[ On moisture condensationIf the camera is brought directly from a cold to awarm location, moisture may condense inside oroutside the camera. This moisture condensationmay cause a malfunction of the camera.If moisture condensation occursTurn off the camera and wait about an hour for themoisture to evaporate. Note that if you attempt to

shoot with moisture remaining inside the lens, youwill be unable to record clear images.

[ On the internal rechargeablebackup battery

This camera has an internal rechargeable batteryfor maintaining the date and time and othersettings regardless of whether the power is on oroff.This rechargeable battery is continually chargedas long as you are using the camera. However, ifyou use the camera for only short periods, itdischarges gradually, and if you do not use thecamera at all for about one month it becomescompletely discharged. In this case, be sure tocharge this rechargeable battery before using thecamera.However, even if this rechargeable battery is notcharged, you can still use the camera as long asyou do not record the date and time.Charging method of the internalrechargeable backup batteryInsert batteries with enough capacity in thecamera, or connect the camera to a wall outlet(wall socket) using the AC Adaptor (notsupplied), and leave the camera for 24 hours ormore with the power off.

Notas sobre la utilizacin de la cmara

[ Copia de seguridad de lamemoria interna y del MemoryStick Duo

No apague la cmara ni extraiga las baterasni el Memory Stick Duo con el indicadorde acceso encendido, ya que los datos de lamemoria interna o del Memory Stick Duopodran destruirse. Realice siempre unacopia de seguridad de sus datos paraprotegerlos.

[ Notas sobre la grabacin/ reproduccin

Esta cmara no es resistente al polvo, a lassalpicaduras ni al agua. LeaPrecauciones(pgina 26) antes de utilizar la cmara.

Antes de grabar acontecimientos nicos, realiceuna grabacin de prueba para asegurarse de quela cmara funciona correctamente.

Tenga cuidado de no dejar que la cmara se

moje. Si entra agua en la cmara puedeocasionar un fallo de funcionamiento y, enalgunos casos, no se podr reparar.

No enfoque la cmara hacia el sol ni hacia otrasluces intensas, ya que podran producirse fallosde funcionamiento en la unidad.

No utilice la cmara cerca de un lugar donde segeneren ondas de radio fuertes o se emitaradiacin. Es posible que la cmara no grabe oreproduzca las imgenes debidamente.

La utilizacin de la cmara en lugares arenosos

o polvorientos puede ocasionar un fallo defuncionamiento. Si se condensa humedad, elimnela antes de

utilizar la cmara(pgina 26). No agite ni golpee la cmara. Adems de

producirse un fallo de funcionamiento y de nopoder grabar imgenes, es posible que el soportede grabacin quede inutilizable o que los datosde las imgenes se estropeen, se daen o sepierdan.

Limpie la superficie del flash antes de utilizarlo.El calor de la emisin del flash puede hacer quela suciedad de la superficie del flash sedescolore o se adhiera en ella, lo que ocasionarauna emisin de luz insuficiente.

[ Notas sobre la pantalla LCD La pantalla LCD est fabricada mediante

tecnologa de muy alta precisin, de forma quems del 99,99% de los pxeles son operativospara uso efectivo. No obstante, es posible que seobserven constantemente en la pantalla LCDpequeos puntos negros y/o brillantes (blancos,rojos, azules o verdes). Estos puntos sonnormales en el proceso de fabricacin y noafectan en modo alguno a la grabacin.

1 Insercin de las bateras o de un Memory Stick Duo (nosuministrado)

1 Abra la tapa del compartimiento de la batera o el Memory Stick Duo.

2 Inserte el Memory Stick Duo (no suministrado) completamente hasta quehaga clic.

3Haga coincidir las polaridades +/ e inserte las bateras.

4 Cierre la tapa del compartimiento de la batera o el Memory Stick Duo.

La capacidad de la batera se reduce a medida

El nmero de imgenes que se pueden grabar/ visualizar y la duracin de la batera disminuyenen las condiciones siguientes: La temperatura del entorno es baja.

Solucin de problemas

Si tiene algn problema con la cmara, intente primero las siguientes soluciones.

Le rogamos que entienda que usted da su consentimiento a que el contenido de la memoriainterna pueda ser comprobado cuando enva la cmara para repararla.

El indicador de batera restante es incorrecto, o se visualiza el indicador de

suficiente batera restante pero la alimentacin se agota rpidamente. Este fenmeno ocurre cuando se utiliza la cmara en un lugar muy clido o muy fro. Si utiliza bateras alcalinas o de oxi-nquel (no suministradas), es posible que el tiempo

restante no se indique correctamente. Las bateras estn descargadas. Instale nuevas bateras o bateras de hidruro de nquel-metal

cargadas (no suministradas)(pgina 6). Si utiliza bateras de hidruro de nquel-metal, y los polos de las bateras o los terminales de la

tapa de las bateras estn sucios, las bateras no se cargan suficientemente. Lmpielos con unbastoncillo de algodn o similar.

Si utiliza bateras de hidruro de nquel-metal, el tiempo restante visualizado vara respecto delactual debido al efecto de memoria, etc. Descargue las bateras totalmente y vuelva a cargarlaspara corregir la indicacin.

Esto no indica un fallo de funcionamiento. Apague la cmara antes de abrir la tapa de lasbateras o el Memory Stick Duo.

1 Compruebe los elementos siguientes y consulte la Gua prctica de Cyber-shot (PDF).

2 Extraiga las bateras, vuelva a insertarlas despus de un min (minuto)aproximadamente y conecte la alimentacin.

3 Inicialice los ajustes (pgina 18) .

4 Consulte con el distribuidor de Sony o con la oficina de servicio localautorizada de Sony.

No es posible encender la cmara. Instale las bateras correctamente(pgina 6). Conecte el adaptador de ca (no suministrado) correctamente. Las bateras estn descargadas. Instale nuevas bateras o bateras de hidruro de nquel-metal

cargadas(pgina 6). Las bateras ya no sirven. Reemplcelas por otras nuevas.

La alimentacin se desconecta de repente. Si no utiliza la cmara durante unos tres minutos mientras est conectada la alimentacin, la

cmara se apaga automticamente para evitar que las bateras se descarguen. Encienda lacmara de nuevo(pgina 8).

Las bateras estn descargadas. Instale nuevas bateras o bateras de hidruro de nquel-metalcargadas(pgina 6).

La cmara no puede grabar imgenes. Compruebe la capacidad libre de la memoria interna o el Memory Stick Duo (pginas22 y

23). Si estn llenos, tome una de las siguientes medidas: Borre las imgenes innecesarias(pgina 12). Cambie el Memory Stick Duo.

Est utilizando el Memory Stick Duo con el conmutador de proteccin contra escrituraajustado en la posicin LOCK. Ajuste el selector en la posicin de grabacin. No es posible grabar imgenes mientras se carga el flash. Ajuste el dial de modo en , , , , , , , o cuando tome imgenes

fijas. Ajuste el dial de modo en cuando tome pelculas.

No es posible insertar la fecha en las imgenes. Esta cmara no dispone de funcin para superponer la fecha en las imgenes. Para imprimir o

guardar las imgenes con la fecha insertada, utilice Picture Motion Browser.

La cmara no puede reproducir imgenes. Pulse el botn (Reproducir)(pgina 12). El nombre de carpeta/archivo se ha cambiado en el ordenador. Si se ha procesado un archivo de imagen con un ordenador o si se ha grabado el archivo de

imagen con un modelo distinto al de la cmara, la reproduccin en esta cmara no est

garantizada. La cmara est en el modo USB. Elimine la conexin USB.
