Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, My trip to Ireland consisted of two main objectives: exploring the Holy Lands and reconnecting with my people. As for the first objective, we started in my mother’s neck of the woods, County Louth, and went North to Belfast, to see the Titanic Museum, continued up North and then came down the Northwest coast of Ireland. The second half of our tour's highlights were the Aran Islands and the shrine of our Lady of Knock. Along the way, we saw natural wonders, Churches, castles and ate lots of chips. I did learn something very peculiar about the Irish. Apparently, they frown upon walking on fire while being attacked by flying mustaches. The second objective centered around
saying Mass at my mother’s home parish with 10 aunts
and uncles, two dozens or more first cousins, dozens of
extended family members and my parents’ friends from
their youth. No pressure saying that Mass! One of my
favorite quotes from the trip came from my nephew. Five
of the seven Levins, my mother’s maiden name, sisters
were chatting up a storm about which one is more deaf
and crazy then the next. Please know this conversation
was happening in a public venue, so I am not breaking
confidence. So, my nineteen year old nephew, after
watching this for about ten minutes, leans over to me and
says, “It all makes a lot more sense now.” The picture
below is of me catching up with one of my cousins.
God Bless you all! Fr. Jerome

The effect of each Person of the Trinity On the first Sunday after Pentecost, we celebrate and honor God's character as the Most Holy Trinity. The first reading shows us the Father as he parented the baby nation of Israel. We see that he is "a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger and rich in kindness and faithfulness" -- the Perfect Father. If we have difficulty seeing him this way, it's because we've never experienced a human father-figure who showed us what perfect fatherhood looks like. Our spirits need healing. We've been projecting human imperfections onto our image of God. Even the best parents and teachers fall short of the wonderfulness of God's fatherhood. We need to consciously differentiate him from our human dads and other human authorities. The second reading shows us the entire Trinity: the grace of Jesus, the love of the Father, and our friendly partnership with the Holy Spirit. In this and because of this, we are to rejoice, mend our ways, and live in peace with one another. In other words, because Jesus bore our sins as he died on the cross and then conquered death, he provides us with grace so that we can resist sin, and he provides us with the Father's love so that we can love one another no matter what, and he provides us with the Holy Spirit, who fellowships with us and empowers us so that we can continually live as holy Christians. The Gospel reading shows us the depth of the Father's love. He doesn't condemn us for our sins; he gives us his Son to rescue us from the destructive results of our sins. Our sins condemn us and sentence us to eternal death, but Jesus saves us from this by taking us to eternal life -- if we want him to! Questions for Personal Reflection: Which Person of the Trinity do you know the least? Or feel distant from? Or fear? How have human relationships interfered with your ability to feel God's closeness? Questions for Community Faith Sharing: Which Person of the Trinity do you know best? Why? How is the Trinity the perfect example of a good, loving, healthy relationship?

Understanding Grief and Getting Help
If you, or someone that you love, is grieving a loss, we want to offer support for the journey. Our 6-week series is highly respected throughout Solano County, led by trained facilitators for peer-to-peer support on the stages of grief. Everyone processes grief in their own way, some people need to talk, others just to listen at first. All can find a home at these sessions. If you know a friend or relative who is mourning, suggest they attend. It may be even more helpful if you offered to accompany them to the Grief Group.
Saturdays, June 3rd– July 8th at 11AM in the Aquinas Room
Ministry Center at St. Dominic’s. For more information contact Joanne Flanagan. 707-747-9416

6-Week Grief Support Series
Meets Saturdays,
June 3rd– July 8th
How does one spend an hour before Jesus exposed in
the Blessed Sacrament? Bring your own prayer books,
use the books in the chapel, read the Bible, pray the
rosary, or just sit and relax and enjoy the sweet peace that
comes from simply being in the Presence of God. You
may feel that you can't pray well. Don't let this discourage
you. The mere fact that you take time out at a specific time
each week to spend an hour with Jesus in the Blessed
Sacrament pleases Him very much and is in itself a prayer
of great faith. There is a need for a few faithful committed
adorers to spend time with Jesus on:

An important message from SVdP….The school year is coming to end, which means many families cannot rely on their school-age children receiving free/reduced meals at school. Some students eat both breakfast and lunch at school, helping to lower food costs at home. Working parents may also have to find childcare programs for their children during the summer. These added costs can increase stress for families. As summer approaches, please consider donating kid-friendly food and snacks to St. Vincent de Paul. Cereal, peanut butter, jelly, granola/snack bars, crackers, fruit snacks; just to name a few. If you know anyone who could use St. Vincent de Paul's help, please have them call 707-746-1773.
