14.0 HIGHLIGHTS ON CHURCH MINISTRIES
14.1 All Presbyterial Church Groups were active until the restructuring took place after the G.A resolution in April 2017. The
Presbytery held consultative meetings on 16/05/2017 and 04/08/2017 to be able to harmonize the transition.
The Presbytery held a farewell party to all Presbyterial Group Leaders on 04/08/2017 at PCEA Webuye in which 5 members of
each Presbyterial Group and attended and were each given farewell tokens of appreciation by the Presbytery.
617
However, the various Ministries continued with activities in respective Parishes: -
i) Men Ministry through PCMF carried out Right of Passage in 5 parishes namely: - Scarves Kitale East – 35 Boys
Kitale West - 55 Boys
Matunda - 14 Boys
New Bungoma - 33 Boys
Kiungani - 25 Boys
Totaling to 162 boys as opposed to the previous year where only 4 parishes participated.
ii) Women Ministry through Woman’s Guild carried out seminars and commission of women as follows: - Kitale West: – 26th – 27th August, Seminar with 24 Women Dedicated (Head kerfs); 19 qualified for Badges
New Bungoma: - 23rd – 24th May, Seminar with 24 Women Dedicated (Head kerfs); 8 qualified for Badges
Kitale East: - 25th – 26th November, Seminar with 20 Women Dedicated (Heads kerfs); 14 qualified for Badges Matunda: - 18th – 19th March, Seminar with 27 Women Dedicated; 11 qualified for Badges
A total of 95 Women were Dedicated and 52 qualified for Budges.
As for the Youth Ministry and Children Ministry, they held Meetings, Missions, Rallies, Medical Camps, Seminars and Keshas in their different Parishes. The Ministries have proved greater potential to do more but are still hampered by financial constraints. However, as
Presbytery, we are satisfied with Groups Restructuring as more resources are spent in the Parishes.
15.0 ACHIEVEMENTS
15.1 We Dedicated 3 Sanctuaries in - PCEA Kona & PCEA Simatwet Churches in Matunda, PCEA Neema Church in Kitale East
Parish
15.2 Laying of Foundation Stone to 2 Churches at PCEA Kiptoi Church in Cherangani Parish, PCEA Malakisi Church in Webuye
Parish
15.3 Organized over 44 Missioners from the Presbytery who took part in a successful Evangelistic Mission to PCEA Kigumba in
Uganda Mission Area during the National Evangelism Mission in which 620 souls received Jesus Christ as their personal saviour.
618
15.4 Acquisition of Title Deeds for Church Plots: CHEPCHINA/KIPTOGOT BLOCK 3/CORNER/231 and
KAPOMBOI/KAPOMBOI BLOCK 3/KOBOS/459 in Kitale West Parish
15.5 Successful Zoning of Uganda Mission Area to 5 and assisted twining with Regions namely: -
Eastern Zone – Twined with Mt. Kenya Region
Central Zone - Twined with Easter Region
Kampala City Zone - Twined with Nairobi Region
Western Zone - Twined with Central Region
Northern Zone - Twined with Rift Valley Region
15.6 Setting the construction of a School in Kigumba assisted by Mission and BSR
16.0 CHALLENGES
16.1 Vastness and lack personnel in Uganda Mission Area still pose a challenge to the administration of the Mission Area
16.2 Financial Constraints that has caused non-payment of personnel in the Presbytery; Kisumu and Cherangani Parishes continue to
strain the Presbytery
16.3 Expansiveness of our Presbytery causing heavy overheads
16.4 Instability of many Parishes due to unfriendly political environment in Western and Nyanza Regions
16.5 Implementation of Pastoral Oversight Strategy in Cherangani Parish that is expected to yield positive results in terms of clearing
the huge debt that has almost grounded the Parish
17.0 FUTURE PLANS
17.1 We still believe subdividing the Presbytery will deal with high cost of managing the Presbytery and bring services closer to
parishioners.
17.2 Investing in income generating projects though elusive but trusting in God
17.3 Accomplish more in Mission Areas of Kisumu, Uganda and Cherangani Parish through increased oversight activities through
training and recruiting more Elders and Evangelists.
619
17.4 Continue seeking more assistance for Parishes and Mission Areas that cannot sustain their personnel, like Kisumu, Cherangani
and Uganda Mission Area.
17.5 Create Parishes in Uganda Mission Area so that more Ministers can be posted there to address Pastoral concerns and overcome
challenges of distance covered by one Minister.
