your Neat book

Flood Source It’s been a long time since Adam and Eve. People have changed a lot. They are worshipping other idols and aren’t praying as much. They are drinking alcohol

and are cheating on their families. People are very violent. Most people only live to be around 20 years old.

Life is horrible. The strongest people survive and women are treated terribly. People force you to do work for them if you aren’t big or tough. There isn’t

always enough food, the richest people have most of the wealth while the poor are left to starve. Disease is everywhere and humans and rats fight for the same

food. There’s no education or hope. It’s kill or be killed.

Task: Answer the questions below in full sentences in your Neat book

What 3 adjectives best describe society before the Flood? (3) What actions in this passage would displease God? (4)

How does this passage link to the Fall? (3) Could this passage be written about 21st century society? Explain your answer (3)

STRETCH How could the Flood link to the Fall?

You have 4 character cards of people at the time of the flood

In one sentence explain how each character feels about the flood (NEAT BOOK)

God

I saw everything I loved being destroyed. There were barely any good people left. I had to save my creation before it was too late. I told Noah (one of the few good people) to build an Ark and load on 2 of each animal. Once he did this, I flooded the earth and killed everything else. The rain lasted for 40 days and 40 nights. At the end, the animals and Noah survived and created a better world from a new beginning. It was the only thing to do.

Noah

Society was so bad before the flood. I was about to give up in God’s power to save us. When I prayed he asked me to build an ark and save the animals and my family. After a few months, I built it and we lived on it for 40 nights. It was tough but it ended the world was beautiful again. Animals roamed the land and people had enough food to eat again. I never doubted God. Maybe he could have given some people a second chance but he knows best.

Andrea (from the grave)

Life was so hard. Women were treated terribly and only the strongest men survive. I treated people nicely but it made no difference. I can’t read properly and my 8 children were either dead or starving. How can I believe in God while this is happening? I can’t! I remember the day of water very well. Water came out of the ground, sky and everything. I was terrified, I had no idea what was happening. Death was so fast. I’m just glad that life is over.

Marcus (from the grave)

Life was great. The strongest people had power and that’s only fair. If you’re better than everyone else you deserve more. I don’t know what happened with the water. We were drinking and praying to the God of war when boom! Water came from everywhere! I tried to fight back but I was eventually overpowered. Hell is a lot harder than life, I think God’s just jealous of my strength.

Why did the Flood happen?• This flood was the means of God's judgment on mankind because of the

evil in their heart and actions. God warned Noah that He was going to destroy the world with a flood, because of the wickedness of mankind. Noah was to build an ark and take his family and pairs of each kind of air-breathing animal in it in order to be saved from the flood.

TASK:Write the quote in your Neat book and annotate by using the above information ‘’God decided to clear the earth of wickedness and allow good people to have a fresh start’’.Genesis 6:6, 7, 17.

STRETCH: Why do you think God warned Noah about the flood?

God is omnipotent and never has and never will make a mistake. B. No. God planned the Great Flood from the beginning, even before He created man. C. Yes. When God found out how evil man is, God was sorry He had created man, repented, and vowed to slaughter mankind (plus all the animals). D. None of the above.

2. Was the Great Flood, itself, a mistake by God? A. Trick question, again. God doesn’t make mistakes. B. No. A total cleansing of the Earth was necessary to eliminate evil from the planet. C. Yes. God meant to destroy only humans and not the animals. D. Yes.
