CHAPTER 1 PRINCIPLES AND PROCEDURES FOR CLASSIFICATION

    SECTION 1 INTRODUCTION

    1 Introduction

    1.1 General

1.1.1 This publication presents DNVs Rules for Classification of Offshore Drilling and Support Units, theterms and procedures for assigning and maintaining classification, including listing of the applicable technicalreferences to be applied for classification.

    1.2 Organisation of DNV-OSS-101

1.2.1 DNV-OSS-101 is divided into three main chapters as follows:

Chapter 1: providing general information about classification principles and procedures Chapter 2: providing design and construction requirements for the newbuilding phase Chapter 3: providing requirements for maintenance of class in the operational phase.

    1.3 Objects covered

1.3.1 DNV-OSS-101 covers classification of mobile offshore units (units) of the following design types:

    ship-shaped units column-stabilised units self-elevating units

    for the following services:

drilling well intervention accommodation heavy-lifting general offs
