T-SHIRT CAMISupplies: 2 plain t-shirts in contrasting colors in
your sizeThread to match one shirt1/2 wide elastic
Tools: Sewing machine with needle for sewingstretch fabric
ScissorsPencil that makes disappearing marksYardstickShort ruler or tape measurePinsLarge safety pin
T-SHIRT CAMI
Place one shirt flat. Draw a linebetween underarm seams. Cutalong the line through bothlayers. Repeat with other shirt.
Cut each shirt tube alongthe center back and openout to a single layer.
Mark diagonal stitch lines onthe top layer as far apart as
you like. Stack top and bottomlayers with sides matching and1 1/2 of the bottom layer hemshowing. Pin.
Through both layers topstitchdiagonal lines and upper edge, 2 1/4from the top. Trim out top layer onlyin alternating sections betweendiagonal lines, below the upper stitch.
Fold layers in half withright sides together.Stitch side edges with1/2 seam allowance.
Turn right sides out. Along top edge,fold 1 1/4 to the inside for a casing.Sew through stitches already aroundtop edge, leaving a small opening at theseam. Edgestitch 1/4 from the fold.
Thread elastic through casingopening with large safety pin.Pin ends together and fit,adjusting elastic length asneeded. Stitch elastic ends andopening closed.
From each t-shirt scrap, cut 6 strips, 1 1/2 wide.Braid any combo of 3 strips per strap. Pin straps totop edge of cami. Adjust length and placement to fitbefore stitching. Join remaining strips in pairs endto end. Braid and knot ends for a belt.
