Directors’ Message

Happy Camping!

We would like to thank all of the campers, parents, alumnae, and staff for making the summer of 2016 so amazing! The 100th summer of Lochearn was even richer due to multi-generations of Lochearn Lassies who came together to celebrate this milestone event. We were so proud of your girls for welcoming their predecessors with open arms. We smiled as campers gathered around scrapbooks, asked the alumnae questions, and gleefully toured camp with the visitors. The highlight of the 100th year celebrations was having generations of Lochearn Lassies gathering on Campfire Hill to reflect on the Lochearn motto. Our alumnae definitely made “the whole camp happier for their being here.” Their memories and joyful tears made the campers proud and grateful for being part of such an important experience: both the reunion and Lady Lochearn herself.

Of course, the other programs that make camp such an incredible experience were in evidence in both sessions. We were treated to a wonderful production of Peter Pan, an excellent assortment of ski, diving, Water Zumba, horse and gym shows. In addition to the Race Around the Lake, and the swim to Watermelon Island, campers learned to crack and flip eggs in our new Culinary Arts studio! Smells of ratatouille, freshly baked pizzas and apple crisp were present both inside and out of our newest addition. Archery ramped up their program by adding a cowbell, flu flu arrows, and the Bulls-Eye Club. Our CTPs were thrilled to go whitewater rafting on the Androscoggin River in New Hampshire. The girls weren’t sure if they liked the rafting or the steak and salmon lunch better! We can’t wait to continue this program next summer.

We know that you are looking forward to the next chapter in Lochearn’s history as much as we are! We want to wish all of you a safe and successful school year.

This summer’s Blue and Green competition was like none other before. Each summer, we create new challenges and keep the favorite traditions alive for the Blue and Green teams. Our campers enjoyed the new Apache Relay, a fast-paced game encouraging team initiatives and learning new skills, and the counselors had so much fun hiding from the campers for Counselor Hunt! Congratulations to the Green team for winning both sessions!

We are currently enrolling both new and returning campers for the summer of 2017! Please re-enroll your camper early to ensure her spot at camp next summer. As in previous years, there is a $300.00 discount for families who pay their balance in full by November 1. Follow these steps to re-enroll your daughter for 2017: 1. Log on to your “MyLochearn” account on our website. Click on “Camper Application,” select 2017 under Season. Select which camper you would like to re-enroll, or select “Another Child” to enroll an additional sister. Select the session for which you would like to enroll your camper. If you would like to enroll for both sessions, please select both Session 1 and Session 2. 2 Fill out a paper enrollment application, available by clicking “ENROLL” at the top right hand corner of our website. Then mail, or scan and email, the form to our office. Please call our winter office with your questions at 352-562-7989 or email fun@camplochearn.com.
