1. Designing with GrafiWrap patterns

What are GrafiWrap patterns ?

GrafiWrap are now also offering all their wrappign films in the form of digital colour samples (patterns). A customer

can now finally see the right colours on the design.

This means that carbon films, leather looks, metallics, colour waves, sandblast films and all other GrafiWrap films can

be shown in any design. And the stripings, texts and logos you designed can also be filled in this way.

This extremely user-friendly tool allows every Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop user to see all GrafiWrap films in his

design.

Mistakes when using these films are now avoided, as the GrafiWrap reference number is mentioned with each

pattern.

Once you have downloaded the pattern, the AI version can always be applied in Adobe Illustrator. All patterns can

also be saved in your colour library, so you need to download them only once, and you will be able to use them at any

time later on.

The GrafiWrap patterns come in 10 volumes :

- Volume 1: Exclusive Series patterns

- Volume 2: Metallic patterns

- Volume 3: Cast matt & glossy patterns

- Volume 4: Colour wave & stardust patterns

- Volume 5: Calendered matt & glossy patterns

- Volume 6: Carbon patterns

- Volume 7: Brushed metallic patterns

- Volume 8: Leather look patterns

- Volume 9: Deco patterns

- Volume 10: Sandblast and etched glass film patterns

As all GrafiWrap patterns are made in the highest quality, it may take a while before they are completely downloaded.

Attention : due to screen limitations and to different calibrations a digital design does not always show the exact

colour. Always check the right colour on a real colour card, which is available from your distributor.

2. How to download digital GrafiWrap patterns ?

1. Open www.grafitwrap.com and select the language of your choice

2. Go to “DOCUMENTATION” and open “DIGITAL PATTERNS”

3. Click on “DOWNLOAD GRAFIWRAP PATTERNS” to start the download from our server.

This may take a while, as the patterns are made in high quality.

4. The following window will be opened :

5. Drag the volume (AI) of your choice to your desktop or hard disk, so you can open it later on

in Illustrator.


6. Double-click on your download, so it is opened directly in Illustrator.

7. Once Illustrator has been opened you will see the following window on your screen. In this

example all GrafiWrap films of the Exclusive Series are shown on your screen.


8. In order to use the swatch table (upper right corner of your screen) again and again in the

future, save it as “save swatch library as AI”.

9. Repeat this procedure for all available volumes, and from now on you can perfectly fill all

“paths” in Illustrator with the patterns of your choice.


3. How to use digital GrafiWrap patterns in Illustrator ?

3A. Vectorized drawings in Illustrator:

A customer wants to know what his Audi TT will look like with an anthracite carbon rooftop,

combined with a dark blue brushed side.

- Open a full-scale vectorized drawing.

- Go to “window” and open “swatches”.


- The swatch table is now opened in the right upper corner.

- Now go to the right upper corner of your swatch table and click on ”Open Swatch Library”.

Then go to “User Defined” and select “Volume 6 - Carbon Patterns”. If this volume is not

available in your library, please download the patterns as described on P3.

- A new window with the Carbon Patterns is now opened.

- Repeat the previous procedure, but now for “Volume 7 - Brushed Metallic Patterns”.


- Now Volume 7 - Brushed Metallic Patterns is shown as well in the upper left corner.

- To fill the rooftop in Anthracite Carbon, just activate the roof contours and then click on the

desired carbon colour in the upper left window.

- The rooftop is now perfectly filled in the colour of your choice.

- When you zoom in, you can perfectly see the carbon structure.


- If you want to fill the car body with dark blue brushed metallic, first activate “volume 7” in the

upper left window. Then activate the contour lines of the car body and click on the selected

brushed metallic.

- Now the car body is automatically filled with the pattern of your choice.

- Your design is ready. Before saving it, also drag the selected patterns to the swatch table

at the right side. In this way they will always be shown when you open this design at a later

stage.


3B How to use GrafiWrap patterns on photographs in Illustrator ?

- Import an HD photo into Illustrator. Always take a white car.

- If you want to fill a part of the door, draw in a new layer and by means of the pen tool the

contour of the surface to be filled.


- If you want this part to be filled with e.g. Ex95 Black pearl, go to your swatch table and click

in the upper right corner on ”Open Swatch Library”. Then go to the “User Defined” patterns

you downloaded before, and open Volume 1 - Exclusive Range Patterns. If this volume is

not available in your library, please download the Exclusive Range Patterns as described

on P3.

The GrafiWrap Exclusive series now appears on your screen. Click on the desired colour.


- In close up you can see that the door panel is nicely filled with Ex95 Black Pearl.

- If you now want to fill the side with BMx19 Brushed Gray-Blue, draw their contours and

open Volume 7 (Brushed Metallic Patterns). Click on the desired colour in the opened

table, and the area is automatically filled with this colour.


- In close up you can see the brushed structure. For nice effects, set the opacity to 90%.

- Continue in this way to complete your design. Logos and texts can also be filled in the

same way. If desired, you can draw some additional lines on the design just to highlight it

even more.


- Save the design. You can always find the used colours in your swatch table.

- All colour samples of the Grafityp cutting films can also be downloaded for free through our

website www.Grafityp.com. Go to the download section and open “All Digital Colour

Swatches”.

4.GrafiWrap patterns in Photoshop

4A. How to import and save GrafiWrap patterns in Photoshop ?

- Open Photoshop

- Then open the desired volume (p.1), which you downloaded earlier (p 2-3).

- As an example we select Volume 7, brushed patterns.

- From this series we would like to use BMx21 Dark blue brushed as a pattern.


- Trace the exact contours of the desired colour by means of the Rectangular Marquee Tool

and make a copy.

- Then open a new window in Photoshop, name it BMx21 and paste the copied colour into

this window.


- Define your pattern as BMx21.

- Your new pattern is now available in your pattern library.


4B How to use GrafiWrap patterns in Photoshop ?

- Open a new project in Photoshop.

- Select the area to be filled by means of the Magic Wand Tool.


- Go to “Edit” and then to “Fill”

- Open “Patterns”. Here you can see a series of patterns. Ath the end of this series you can

see your own imported patterns.


- Now click on the desired pattern.

- Your design is now available with your own GrafiWrap pattern (here D02x59 Bali army

green).

- Please take into account that the patterns are displayed in real size. So your design needs

to be created in real size as well. Screen colours are never displayed 100% exact. To see

the real colours, we advise you to order a colour card from your local GrafiWrap dealer.
