Junior League of Chattanooga is presenting our inaugural Designer Showhouse on Saturday, April 9, 2016,

commencing with our Opening Night Gala on April 8, 2016. Expanding on our Tour Du Jour of Kitchens and A Very Merry

Holiday Home Tour, this will showcase a beautifully designed home in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This event promises to

be spectacular and is our most high-profile fundraiser in 2016.

We invite you to support Junior League of Chattanooga by participating as one of our Sponsors. Through your

participation, you will not only expose your brand to potential new consumers but also demonstrate your commitment

to the Chattanooga community. Proceeds from our Designer Showhouse will benefit Junior League of Chattanooga’s

training and community programs.

the Showhouse and Gala Party and exposure to our nearly 400 Active and Sustaining members. The Designer Showhouse will

be available for public viewing April 9– 30, and we expect to see well over 2,000 spectators.

Since 1917 Junior League of Chattanooga has been committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of

women and improving the community through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is

exclusively educational and charitable, and our members devote more then 10,000 volunteer hours each year to our

Community Impact OF JUNIOR LEAGUE

WOMEN BUILDING BETTER COMMUNITIES.Junior League of Chattanooga educates and trains its members to provide effective volunteer service, to research challenging community

needs, and to initiate pilot projects or expand services to meet those needs. It provides administrative, financial and volunteer support for

projects and facilitates the permanent sponsorship of programs by other community organizations. Junior League is committed to support

community projects and grants that address children, health, women, literacy and voluntarism as defined in our position statements.

CurrentCommunity PROGRAMMING KIDS IN THE KITCHEN The goal of this program, which is based on a nutritional initiative founded by the Association of the Junior Leagues International and

supported by its member Leagues, is to empower youth to make healthy lifestyle choices and to help combat childhood obesity and its

associated health risks. The initiative, which began in Chattanooga in 2006, engages children in the preparation of healthy meals and

educates both children and their parents on nutrition and healthy choices.

MINI-GRANTS FOR TEACHERSMini-Grants for Teachers is a program designed to provide funding for creative and effective teaching projects to educators in the

Hamilton County public school system. JLC remains committed to helping teachers provide exciting, challenging and rewarding learning

experiences for their students. Any elementary, middle or high school teacher or team of teachers in the Hamilton County public school

system is eligible to apply for a grant and may participate by submitting his or her project ideas to the JLC website. In 2015 we received

187 grant requests. JLC was fortunate to award 21 grants for a total of $14,434.22.

JLC & THE FOOD BANKJunior League of Chattanooga, as part of its Seeds of Change initiative, partnerer with the Chattanooga Area Food Bank in its mission

to eliminate hunger and promote better nutrition in our region. Each month, the Chattanooga Area Food Bank provides hundreds of

emergency food boxes to local families in need of supplemental nutrition. Every third Thursday of the month, JLC members and their

families help the Food Bank prepare 50-pound emergency food boxes for qualifying Hamilton County families.

When students leave school each Friday afternoon, many of them will not receive a nutritious meal until they return to school on Monday.

The Food Bank, in partnership with WDSI Fox 61, provides sack packs to area Hamilton County schools filled with macaroni and cheese,

granola bars and other items children can eat over the weekend so they can maintain balanced nutrition until they return to school. Junior

League of Chattanooga members stuff and prepare the sacks for children every month.

The Chattanooga Area Food Bank has an ongoing need for nutritious pantry staples for their emergency food boxes. JLC members

collect items at each general membership meeting to donate to these efforts. Junior League of Chattanooga is the only organization

donating to the Chattanooga Area Food Bank on a monthly basis.
