IMAGINARY CLOUD Maja Godlewska DATE Artist commissioned August 2008 Work installed April 2011 LOCATION Beatties Ford Road Library 2412 Beatties Ford Rd, Charlotte, NC DESCRIPTION The artistic concept began with connecting the interior to the sky. The design originated from the theme of clouds, and was influenced by information gathered from community engagement. The artwork draws on West African patterns and symbols as a universal language that exists beyond cultural and ethnic divides. Drawings on these fabric artworks are hand-made, scanned, then enlarged and heat- transfer on to the material. The ASC administers the public art program for the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County. Artist Selection and designs are approved by the appointed Public Art Commission.
