DIVISION ASEAN AWARENESS FESTIVAL

1. The Schools Division ofNueva Vizcaya will conduct the Division ASEAN Awareness Festival of Talents to be held at Solano High School, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya on February 15, 2019.

2. The ASEAN Awareness Festival aims to provide a venue for learners from public junior high school to exhibit, showcase and raise awareness on culture, information and updates from the ASEAN.

3. The Division ASEAN Awareness Festival shall showcase culture and information in the following areas:

a. Oratorical Contest (I am a Filipino) b. Singaporean Dance c. ASEAN Quiz Bee d. ASEAN Booth (Singapore)

4. The specific guidelines on each contested category are provided in Enclosure No. 1 entitled Implementing Guidelines on the Conduct of the Contested Activities of the ASEAN Awareness Festival.

5. The expenses of the coaches and contestants for transportation, meals, costumes and materials relative to the participation of the school shall be charged to school MOOE, subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations.

6. Immediate dissemination of this memorandum is desired.

General Guidelines on the Conduct of ASEAN Awareness Festival

1. Participants of the ASEAN Awareness Festival shall come from officially enrolled public junior high school students and ALS learners.

3. A learner is allowed to participate in one contested event during the A SEAN Awareness Festival except in Dance Festival where additional two from any category can join to complete the 10 dancers.

4. Schools are advised to submit official list of participants and coaches on or before February 12, 2019.

5. Some AP Coordinators are assigned facilitators in contest activities as agreed during the January 16 meeting at Bayombong West Elementary Meeting.

Event Rules and Mechanics

A. ASEAN Quiz 1. The quiz s open to all types of learners who are officially enrolled in grades 7 to 10. 2. The team shall be composed of three learners from Grades 7 to 10. 3. The team shall wear the national dress of Singapore. 4. Test questions shall be based from www.aseansec.org, the official website of ASEAN

member nations, brochures from the Philippines Information Agency on ASEAN culture, AP Grade 7 and 8 books; Training materials from DepEd.

5. English shall be the official language used in the conduct of quiz. 6. Participants shall be given a total number oftwenty(20) questions ofwhich are six(6)

are "easy", seven (7) are "average" and seven (7) are "difficult". 7. Points for every correct answer shall be given one(l) point for "easy" question; Two(2)

points for "average" and three(3) points for "difficult" question. In case of a tie, a clincher question drawn from the "difficult" category shall be asked until a winning team emerges.

8. The quizmaster shall read each question twice. Countdown shall start after the question has been read the second time and the quizmaster says "GO". When the quizmasters says "STOP" or "TIME IS UP", the contestants must raise their pens up. Those who are unable to observe the instruction shall not earn a point.

9. The participants are allowed to change their answer within the allotted time. 10. In case of protest or inquiry during the actual quiz proceedings, the following

procedures shall be observed: a. Only the contestants or the official coach are allowed to raise a protest or inquiry

before the next question is read; b. The protest or inquiry shall be addressed orally to the chair of the board of judges

who shall recognize the protest or inquiry after validating the proof/evidence presented.

c. The chair shall annotmce the decision upon deliberations with the members of the board ofjudges.

11 . The Decision of the Board of Judges is final.

B. Oratorical Contest 1. Contest piece is "I am a Filipino" by Carlos P. Romulo. 2. The contestant shall wear Filipiniana attire: 3. The criteria for judging are as follows:

Interpretation (matmer in which the piece is internalized and presented) 50% Stage presence (stage poise, gestures, appropriate use of the stage) 10% Delivery-quality of voice, fluency/mastery of the piece, pronunciation 40%

100% C. ASEAN Dance Competition 1. The Dance Competition is a showcase ofthe Folk Dance of Singapore. 2. Only one entry per school. 3. Each group will have a minimum of eight (8) members and a maximum of ten(10)

members (the 9 th and lOth members shall come from the other contest activities). 4. The members of the groups may be composed of males or females or combination of

each. 5. Minimum of five (5) minutes and maximum of 7 minutes performance including the

entrance and exit. 6. The criteria for Judging are as follows:

Choreography (Creativity and Artistry, Style and Originality) Performance, Production Design and Music/Execution (Timing and Coordination, Showmanship atld expression, mastery) Costume, Props Audience Impact

D. ASEAN Booth Contest

1. Patticipating schools shall be given (1) day or Day 0 to set-up respective booths. 2. Only the student-participant and coach are allowed during the judging. 3. Types of products to be displayed covers culture and information of Singapore being

presented, such as government, political, religion, economy, arts, history, geography, cuisine, ethics and tradition, literature, important figures, icons, national songs, etc. identified as Singaporean.

4. The event administrator will let the judges draw lots to detennine their respective booth number before the start.

5. Each student participant shall wear the National Attire of Singapore. 6. The booth can withstand 1 month duration at the regional office. 7. Each student will go through an interview and deliberation of judges. 8. The criteria for judging are as follows:

Creativity/Originality( on design, ideas, graphics, presentation Harmony and balance) Product Display on Culture and Information of the country Cleanliness and Orderliness Communication Skills( ability to present process)
