Why have a support group?• This year again the demand for dementia training has continued to
increase but also the request for training which is more than an awareness-raising course
• Many organisations, managers and trainers are working in isolation when developing training resources. Networking with others will ensure a better understanding and benchmark quality
• Training and learning will need to be sustainable, by working together
this could be better achieved
Terms of Reference
AIM
• To support the development of a range of learning resources to ensure the delivery of a sustainable training programme, which meets the needs of the care sector.
Objectives• To analyse baseline data to monitor the
learning needs of the sector • Avoid duplication of work by sharing
materials and resources • To use the forum to problem solve and
share good practice • To keep up to date with current ideas and
practices • To evaluate how the local training
programmes are meeting the needs of the sector
Membership
• Caerphilly and Blaenau Gwent Social Services
• Independent and Voluntary Sector (*Cardiff)
• Range of service areas and of job roles– Managers– Trainers – Informal Carers
Currently have 20 members

• Map range of learning needs
• Consider how best to meet demand
• Monitor demand for QCF dementia units
