A Message from our President:

Freunde, With all the uncertainty that exists in estimating the longevity of "sheltering in place", the Board of Directors has extended the date of closure of the Delaware Saengerbund until May 1, 2020. If it becomes necessary to shorten or extend this closure, we will notify you in the same manner. Please, keep yourselves safe, communicate with each other and be ready to enjoy each other’s company when we finally can. I wish you all to stay healthy and hope this makes us all stronger in our commitment to our country and each other. Singers The Annual Spring Concert here at the DSB on Saturday, May 2 nd at 3:00 p.m. Doors open at 2:00 p.m. A performance at the Lancaster Liederkranz celebrating their 140 Anniversary will be on June 20, 2020. A bus will be taken for this event. If you are interested in going please see Gerhard Krauss or Keith Farmer. Please remember that new members are always a welcome part of our Singers. Ladies of the D.S.B.

The Ladies Trip on April 29th is being cancelled due to the Coronavirus. We will possibly look into something later, maybe in the fall. The Ladies next meeting scheduled for April 27th has been cancelled. The Ladies always welcome donations of coffee and sugar.

Congratulations to all the Kindergruppe who participated at the Jugend Einzel on March 7th in Lancaster, PA. We had three of our dancers place in their age categories.

Germanic Genealogy Group

ALL PROGRAMS ARE CANCELLED

The programs listed below will be rescheduled during the 2020-2021 Season. Meetings of the Genealogy Group take place on Sunday afternoons in the von Steuben Room. They will begin at 3:15 pm. Meetings are open to all members. We invite you to attend our programs. April 19 (to be rescheduled), Sunday 3:15 pm – We will look at Emigrant documentations – both exit and entrance paper required – considering all import sites in USA and export sites in Europe. There is no leader. Come and share what knowledge you have of your family and their travels to be in America. We also invite you to tell of and perhaps show items that your immigrants took the trouble to bring with them, and that still are treasured by the family. May 17 – DNA – comparing major businesses in the DNA business, what they show, how they have changed over time and how they differ. Brought to you by our own Max Dooley.

Celebrating 30 years of Reunification of Germany

Deutschland: Bundesländer Germany's 16 Federal States

October 2020 celebrates the 30th anniversery of the Reunification of Germany. Most of Germany's 16 Bundesländer (states) are relatively new creations, formed after 1945, and then reformed with some alterations at the time of the reunification.

Mecklenburg-Vorpommern – In the northeast corner of German is the large but sparesly populated Bundesland on the Baltic Sea and bordering Poland. It has lovely fishing villages, lakes and beaches.

Baden -Wuerttemberg - This Bundesländ in the southwest corner borders France and Switzerland. It is one of the leading economic regions of Europe with headquarters of many international businesses. The Black Forest and Heidelberg attract many tourist.

Bayern (Bavaria) – Germany's largest Bundesland. Munich is its capital, home of the original Oktoberfest. Its mountains borders onto Austria and Czech Republic.

Culture Committee

The Kutztown Bus Trip for June 27th has been cancelled and will be rescheduled for

about the same time next year. All reservations are hereby cancelled.

Craft Committee

Craft committee meetings are now 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month.

Not currently meeting while the Saengerbund is closed.
