FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

Merry, Merry “CHRIST-mas”!

I pray everyone will have a wonderful “Christ Day”; celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior! I am

impressed that you are celebrating with us in

service ! Let’s worship our Lord and Savior! Today, like every

day for the Christian, we praise God for His marvelous Gift, JESUS…and HIS Unique way of coming to be among us. Yes, I’m saying “celebrate” a lot, but that’s what it’s all about! Our God cared for us, a world full of dying, decaying, and detached souls so much that He saw fit to give what only He could give.....that’s worth a celebration!! I hope that we go throughout today and the remaining days of this year celebrating and sharing His love! Speaking of celebrating the Gift, I want to give a Special Thanks to our Christian Education Ministry for a thoughtful Christmas Presentation on last Sunday! Let me also thank those of you that came out to the Black Nativity as well! As 2017 comes to an end, let me thank all the disciples of Jesus Christ in this body for doing the work of ministry in an excellent and exciting way. We hope you had a wonderfully blessed time in fellowship at our Volunteer Fellowship this past Wednesday. Thank you for all you do! Now as the year comes to an end, I pray that each of you will approach 2018 with an open hand, obedient heart and optimistic mind. Please, if you have friends or family members currently in our fellowship officially or desiring to be in fellowship with us, please have them fill out a Census Card, in the bulletin today and next Sunday.

Next Sunday is New Year’s Eve. We will have one Worship Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and celebrate “ChristKwanzaa” Style with our African attire and colors. Also, please plan to join us as we gather at our Watchnight Service on that same evening at 10:00 p.m. I would finally like to give one more reminder as we look to the holiday. We must remember that excellence comes without excuses and discipleship comes with deliberate decision. Jeremiah 29:11 and other prophetic scriptural readings continue to remind us that our God guides and guards us for that is our destiny in His Divine Will. Open the gifts that God has placed in you…and use them for the work of Ministry in this Body of Faith. For more than 133 years and as always we have been and are AN EXCITING CHURCH EXCITED ABOUT ITS MISSION!

THE DEACON’S MESSAGE

The gift that God has for you is priceless. So much so, that its origin burst from your creation and is inseparably tied to your hope. At times you will have to fight; but there is no need for alarm because what you have in your possession will grant you victory. II Samuel 22: 31, 36 states, “God’s way is perfect. All the LORD’S promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection. You have given me your shield of victory; your help has made me great.” (NLT) God’s way is perfect and the route to receive the blessings he has for us is singular. God has equipped you with his shield of victory and it is a shield of faith. You lift it up wisely because God has promised you that he will never leave you nor forsake you.
