ffiRICULARSSCHEDULE A

PREAMBLE TO DAY WORK RATES

Any work ordered by the S.O. to be carried out by day work shall be paid for at

the rates entered heieunder subject to the foltowing conditions:-

1. The rates entered for tabour shall be deemed to include all on-costs

associated with the employmeni oi tr.f t labour including (inter alia)'.head

-office"n.'g"',overtreaocharges,profit,-site.expenses,..subsistence

allowances, time lost due to inciernent weather, bonus, holiday and sick

pay and any other "rptoyut;'fting" benefi(s)' small tools and

consumable stores, temporary equipment such as wedges, temporary

tracks, faOOers, staging, scaffoiding a;O all items of a similar nature unless

these are provided or iet up exclusively for day work'

2. The wages of gangers and leading hands working with.their gangs shall

be paid for at the appropriate ratei but the time. oi walking gangers' sub-

foremen and foremen witl not ue'included and shall be deemed to be

included in the rates entered for iabour under site supervision and staff'

3. Payment for overtime work if chargeable and.approved by the S'O' shall

be made at the rates enteruO f,eie'in, but the time so worked as overtime

shall be adjusted in the rr*.'ptoportion as that used for the paying the

normalworkmenonthesiteandapprovedbytheS.o..Thusifamanworks t hour overtime for wnicfr ihe iate pryu'bl" is double time' payment

shall be made for 2 hours at the rate enteieO in tfre day works schedule'

Overtime is working time over and above B hours per

4. The cost of special watching and lighting necessitated by day works shall

be included in the rates.

5. The rates entered for plant shall apply only to plant which the contractorhas available on the site. Sutn'i#t s'halt be deemed to include all

overhead charges, profit, site supervision and staff, hire charges' fuel'

maintenance, consumable stores, tprt" parts, insurances, depreCiation

etc.. but shall exclude the .oti oi'*iges for drivers and operators which

shall be payable separately as dealt with under paragrapih 1 above.

6. Payment for mechanically operated plant shall be made only at such.times

as the plant is engaged in daywork'and shall exclude all standing' idle or

down time.

lf any workmen or items of plant on daywork do not readily belong to any
