Children’s Jewelry Sold at American Girl Stores Recalled for Lead Poisoning Hazard

The CPSC recalled approximately 180,000 American Girl children’s jewelry sets due to high levels of lead in the product. The jewelry sets include American Girl necklaces, bracelets, earrings and hair accessories. This recall does not include American Girl doll jewelry. The packaging of the jewelry features red and white cardboard backing with “American Girl” labeled on the front. The jewelry sets are manufactured in China. The jewelry sets were sold at American Girl Place in Chicago and New York, and the American Girl Outlet in Oshkosh, Wisconsin from May 1999 through February 2006. They range in price from $8 to $12. American Girl jewelry sold through the company’s catalog or Web site is not included in this recall.

Reebok Recalls Bracelet Linked to Child’s Lead Poisoning Death

These bracelets have been linked to a child death in Minneapolis, Minn. Reebok received a report of the death of a 4-year-old child, caused by lead poisoning. The child swallowed a piece from one of the bracelets. The recalled bracelet is 8-inches long with a heart-shaped charm. The name “Reebok” is engraved on the heart charm. The bracelet was provided as a free gift with the purchase of various styles of children’s shoes manufactured by Reebok. The bracelets were manufactured in China and were sold at major shoe stores nationwide from May 2004 through March 2006. The retail price of the shoes ranged from $33 to $50.

Dollar Tree Stores Inc. Toy Jewelry Recalled for Lead Poisoning Hazard to Children

These items come in a variety of colors. They have “SKU #815485” and the name “Mannix” on the reverse side of the packaging. They were all manufactured in China. They were sold at Dollar Tree, Dollar Bill$, Dollar Express, Greenbacks, Only $1 and Super Dollar Tree stores nationwide from September 2003 through February 2006 for $1.

Lead Poisoning Hazard Prompts Recall of Metal Charm Bracelets

The recalled charm bracelets consist of silver-colored metal beads. A silver-colored metal heart frame is attached to the bracelet. About 25,000 of the bracelets were sold on Oriental Trading Company’s Web site from July 2004 through September 2005 for about $0.50 each.

The Little Tikes Co. Recalls Animal-Shaped Flashlights Containing Lead Paint Sold at Target

The two products involved in the recall are the Glowin’ Dino and Glowin’ Doggy Flashlight (see attached for date codes). They are about 9-inches long and make an electronic sound when switched on. The flashlights were sold only at Target stores nationwide, November 2005 - December 2005. They cost $10. They are manufactured by The Little Tikes Co., Hudson, OH. The light green paint on the dinosaur-shaped flashlight and the brown paint on the dog-shaped flashlight could contain excess levels of lead. No incidents or injuries have been reported.

Children’s Necklaces Recalled for Lead Poisoning Hazard

The recalled choker-style necklaces are silver-colored hearts, crosses and clovers that hang from a blue, maroon or black velvety cord. The jewelry’s packaging is white cardboard with “In Style” printed on the front, and UPC number 041838140766 on the back. About 55,000 units were sold at Dollar General Stores from January 2003 through December 2005 for about $1.

Juicy Couture Children’s Jewelry Recalled for Lead Poisoning Hazard

The recalled jewelry is manufactured by Liz Claiborne Inc., of North Bergen, N.J. in China. The recalled bracelets and necklaces are gold or silver with charms. The charms include a yellow painted metal shirt with “Viva La Juicy” printed on the front, a cheerleader’s megaphone with the word “Juicy,” a green heart with “Juicy Couture,” a black dog, the letter “J,” and a purple flower. The jewelry is sold in a pink box with “Juicy Couture” and “Made with Love G&P” printed on the top. Style numbers YJRU0722, YJRU0723, YJR0724 and YJRU0538 are included in this recall. The style number is printed on a white sticker on the bottom of the pink jewelry box. They sold at department stores nationwide from September 2005 through April 2006 for about $95.

Metal Charms Sold with Twentieth Century Fox DVDs Recalled for Toxic Lead Hazard

The recalled silver-colored metal charms were included as a free gift in certain Shirley Temple movie DVDs in specially marked pink boxes. Some packages contain only charms; others contain charm bracelets and charms. The charms come in a variety of shapes including animals, hats, treble clefs, and lollipops. The attached recall contains a complete listing of DVD titles that included the charms and bracelets. The charms were manufactured in China and distributed by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment of Los Angeles, CA. They sold at retail stores from August 2005 through April 2006 for $15 (single DVDs) and $30 (gift box collections).

Lead Poisoning Hazard Prompts Recall of Fun Express Children’s Toys Given Away at Libraries

The recalled toys are made of bendable plastic and is in the shape of a brown dog with black ears, paws and feet, a Dalmatian dog with pink paws, a white dog with orange spots, a brown dog with pink paws, a white cat with orange stripes, a brown cat with pink paws, a black cat with pink ears and a white cat with brown spots. The toys are about 3.75 inches tall. The toy’s packaging is labeled as item 39/1461-K and 39/1461-KM. (See attached photos.) The toys were manufactured in China and distributed by Fun Express, Inc. They were a free giveaway by public libraries nationwide as part of reading programs. They were given away from January 2006 through August 2006.

Atico International USA Recalls 9-Foot Patio Umbrellas Sold at Longs Drug Stores for Lead Hazard

The recalled umbrellas are sold in tan, red, green, and navy blue. They have an opening size of 9-feet wide by 94.5 inches high. They were sold nationwide at Longs Drugs Stores from April 2006 through May 2006 for $40. The umbrellas were manufactured by Zhejiang Nengfu Tourist Products Co., Ltd, China and imported by Atico International USA Inc., of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

Target Recalls Various Toys Due to Lead and Laceration Hazards

The items were sold at Target Stores nationwide from July 2006 through September 2006 and on Target.com from August 2006 through September 2006 for between $10 and $20. Some of these toys contain lead paint and some have sharp points, posing laceration or puncture wound hazards. Target has received four reports of toys breaking apart, exposing sharp points. No injuries have been reported.

Decorative Snaps and Metal Clips Recalled by Provo Craft Due to Lead Poisoning Hazard

The recall involves the "Rob and Bob Studio Clip-Ease" metal clips with model numbers 28-1084, 28-1085 and 28-1086 and the "Rob and Bob Studio Snap-Ease" snaps with model number 28-1080. The product name and model number can be found on the packaging. These items were sold at Scrapbook stores and craft retailers from August 2005 through October 2006 for $6.

“Cars” Toy Chests Sold at Toys “R” Us Recalled by Delta Enterprise Due to Lead Poisoning Hazard

The wooden toy storage box is decorated with graphics from the animated movie “Cars.” It has three removable cloth toy bins. “Delta” and the PO# are printed on the side panel. Only toy boxes with “PO#FJ505192” or “PO#FJ605042” marked on the side panel are included in this recall. Sold exclusively at: Toys “R” Us stores from March 2006 through August 2006 for about $50. The red paint on the partition panels of the toy box contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

Celebrate Express Inc. Recalls Gigantic Gemstone Ring Party Favors Due to Lead Poisoning Hazard

The recalled children's Gigantic Gemstone Ring toy is a silver-colored metallic ring with a large plastic gemstone. The gemstone colors include: blue, red, purple, green and clear. The rings were sold individually and as part of various party favor, costume and heirloom sets. These items were sold at: Celebrate Express' Birthday Express, Costume Express and Storybook Heirloom Web sites and catalogs, and at the Birthday Express retail outlet store located in Kirkland, Wash. The recalled products were sold from October 2003 through October 2006 for about $1.50.

Children’s “Powerpuff Girls” Necklaces Recalled Due to Lead Poisoning Hazard

The recalled necklaces are multi-colored metal pendants that hang from a black cord. The pendants are in the shape of the head of one of three “Powerpuff Girls” cartoon characters. The packaging consists of purple cardboard with the three Powerpuff Girls cartoon characters and the words “CARTOON NETWORK” and “THE POWERPUFF GIRLS” printed on both sides. The items were sold at: Carnivals, amusement parks, family entertainment centers, small discount stores nationwide and at www.rinovelty.com,from March 2003 through November 2006 for about $1.

Lifetime Brands Inc. Recalls Lemonade Jars For Lead Exposure Hazard

The recalled product is the Gemco® Lemonade Jar. The product is a six-sided glass jar with a round glass lid and a metal spigot at the bottom of the jar. The jar has a yellow and green label on the front that reads “Lemonade Jar” with a picture of two lemons. There is a sticker on the bottom that reads “imported by Gemco, Div. Lifetime Hoan Corp. Westbury, N.Y. 11590 Made in China.” The metal spigot contains lead and is in direct contact with the contents of the lemonade jar. Lemonade and other beverages can cause the lead to leach from the spigot. Long-term exposure to lead in children may be associated with behavioral problems, learning disabilities, hearing problems and growth retardation.

Some of the recalled furniture contains paint with high levels of lead.
