A Brief History of the Technology
August Systems Trigard CS300 launched 1980 as a High Availability Control
System 1st Systems delivered in 1981, Dow
Chemical, Freeport TX. TUV Certified 1988 CPU’s upgraded from 8086 to 80386 1989 Last Systems shipped in 1997 ABB acquired August Systems 1997 ICS Triplex/RA acquired IP 2004
Technology is TMR Processors, TMR I/O modules.The I/O Modules are passive and rely on ‘active’ Termination Assemblies for field interface.Ladder Logic Programming only, DOS based tools.

ICS Triplex Trusted launched 1998 as a Dedicated Safety
Platform 1st Systems delivered in 1999, Bontang LNG,
Indonesia. TUV Certified 2000 Rockwell acquired ICS Triplex 2007 Active technology still being sold today
Technology is TMR Processors (PowerPC), TMR I/O modules.The I/O Modules are ‘active’ with testing built into the I/O module firmware.Termination Assemblies are passive field interface.Full IEC1131-3 Programing Languages, Windows based tools.
