What is a Podcast
Characteristics of a Podcast
Pre-recorded audio program Posted to website; Made
available for download for listening on personal computers or mobile devices.
May be a slideshow with narration and/or audio;
Viewable on a MP3 Player, iPod, website, etc.
Types of Podcasts
Audio - Voice recording only
Video - Short video clips (vodcast)

Screencast: Pictures of the Creators computer screen (screenshots) that show changes and has narration of what is being viewed.

Part Two
Getting StartedLocate the Presentation Software Open the Application
Log in to your computer and click the Start orb on the task bar.Select All Programs, click select Microsoft Office.
Click the Microsoft PowerPoint Software Application Option.
Choose a Theme
Decide on the “look & feel” for your podcast
Click the Design tab on the ribbon to view theme options.
Select the Theme of your choice as the layout for your podcast.
Include Informational Slides
Add pages to your presentation by inserting additional slides clicking the New Slide button on the ribbon and selecting a layout from the gallery.

Click the insert media option and browse for the sound file you would like to include.
Click the insert image option and browse for the image file you would like to include.
Add narration
On the “Slide Show” tab, Click the Record Narration option to make a recording for narrating your Podcast

Part Three
Save Your File for Export
Preparing your file to export to the media type of your viewing choice.
Save your presentation in the desired format by clicking the Office button, the selecting Save-As followed by the selection of your choice.
Export Your File
Capture your file for viewing
Record the audio and video using a tool such as Windows Media Encoder; (Can be downloaded for free from the Microsoft website.)
Capture in .wma (Windows Media Audio) file or .wmv (Windows Media Video)
Record the audio from PowerPoint file using a free tool such as Audacity (Can be downloaded for free from audacity.sourceforge.net/ )
Export these files in MP3 file format.
