White Dress and Boots

o This would be the outfit the performer would be wearing whilst on the beach.

o The white dress would juxtapose against the autumnal clothes from the woods and when she’s with the boy. The white colour would connote happiness and would convey more of a star image than the ordinary autumnal outfit.

o The dress would cohere with the Indie-Folk genre of the song as Indie-Folk artists (such as Gabrielle Aplin, shown below) often wear pale colours.

o The brown boots would make the performer seem more down-to-earth, which would go well with our minimalistic approach to the music video.

o The boots would also cohere with the Indie-Folk because they are not a stereotypical style of shoe to pair with a dress.

Jeans, Jumper, Scarf, Coat, Wellies, Locket

and Hato These items of clothing would be used when the

performer is with the boy, either in the woods or on the beach.

o The clothes are autumnal, and although may not be exact to the pictures shown on this page, would be similar. This autumnal aura would be an important feature in our mise-en-scene of the video as it is an extremely natural season, and juxtaposes to the solo shots of the performer in the video as the costume for that would not be autumnal.

o The costume would be extremely down-to-earth, which is a convention of the Indie-Folk music genre. For example, Birdie often wears casual clothing (as shown below).

Flask, Picnic Blanket and Food

o A flask could be used whilst the couple are together. This prop could be shown when they are both sat by the campfire. This would seem relaxed but also romantic.

o The picnic blanket will be used when the couple are on the beach together. This will convey them as more romantically involved and will also seem more stereotypically romantic. The blanket could later be used as a blanket for when the couple are around the campfire.

o When the couple are having a picnic on the beach, they could eat food such as apples, sandwiches and other conventional picnic snacks. This is because our music video is minimalistic and we have chosen to depict the relationship between the boy and girl as a more relatable relationship.

Hair

o My research shows that Indie-Folk artists often have their hair styled naturally, looking effortless. This makes them appear more natural and they have less of the star image which is normally conveyed through most Pop artists. For example, Birdy’s hair in her music video of ‘People Help the People’ is wavy and does not look deliberately styled or maintained.

oTherefore, in the music video of ‘All I Ever Want Is You’, the performer will have natural, unkempt hair to maintain the genre convention.

Makeupo The makeup for the performer whilst she is with the boy, dressed in the autumnal clothing, will be minimal and natural. This is because it needs to look realistic and relaxed. A small amount of mascara, blusher and foundation can be used. This type of makeup can be shown in the left picture of Lucy Rose.

o The makeup for the performer whilst she is on her own, lip syncing the words dressed in the white dress and boots should be more elaborate. Eyeliner could be introduced and maybe a subtle lipstick. This is because the notion that the performer is also the artist should be evident, and a small element of star image can be introduced here, without it breaking the Folk-Indie conventions of natural makeup. The image on the right shows Florence and the Machine with makeup suitable for this part of the video.
