Tips for writing macros:

•Test your macro steps before recording•If a long and detailed macro, write down the steps first•Start with the cursor at the beginning of the document•If a huge macro, break it up into several smaller macros•Remember to backup the macro onto a network drive

The macro will replace a ‘|’ with 4 Tabs

(In TextPad tabs are defined as \t )

Test ‘Search’ > ‘Replace ‘ before recording the macro.

Have the ‘Replace’ box open and set up, before selecting ‘Record’.

•Press ‘Stop’ after running ‘Replace’•Give the macro a Display name and Description.•Select > Repeat to end of file

Creating SMS Messages


• Chisholm Institute has an SMS gateway.• Staff can send an SMS message via Microsoft Office Outlook email.


• The library is charged for each SMS message• The message is a generic courtesy overdue in 2

days reminder only.• The text message is sent using a no-reply sender• Email format: SMS#[email protected] • Feedback has been very positive!

Steps:

• Generate a Symphony WorkFlows report

• Extract the patron mobile number only

• Format the text output file ready to email

• Send out group email to SMS using Outlook
