Why Send Your Child to Corryong College? I recently read an article entitled ‘Provincial Education Victoria – How small isolated State schools perform in comparison to other provincial State schools’ by Margaret Simpson. The article accessed data from a number of sources one being the ‘Better Education’, website. Corryong College is painted in a very positive light. The ‘Better Education’ website collates data from 530 schools across Victoria that offers Year 12. The data in the table below includes independent fee paying schools and catholic school as well as DET State schools; As you can see Corryong College is consistently well placed and always in the top 50% of all schools in the State and last year we broke into the top 15% of the State. This is a great testimony of the support (both at home and at school) and quality of edu- cation offered by the College. A graph from the article above further emphasises the above point. This is a direct comparison of our College with a Wodonga secondary provider from 2009 to 2014; One would have to say that Corryong College is doing well, however we are not about to rest on our laurels. Corryong College has a clear teacher improvement plan that we are confident will further im- prove student outcomes. So next time when you are asked how Corryong College is performing, this is one factor of school per- formance that you could refer to. Dear Parents/Guardians,

Still a Busy Time of the Year

Even though the Year 11 and 12s are long gone to jobs, holidays and apprenticeships, the rest of the school is in full flight; plan-

ning, organising and participating in a plethora of activities. The year 10s finished today after a week on work experience while

the rest of the school continued with the normal curriculum program.

Over the next weeks normal classes will continue right up to Presentation Evening.

Please note that all remaining students from Year Foundation to Year 9 will be required to attend school until the end of the

school year – Presentation Evening. Following Thursday 15th December i.e. the Presentation Evening, cleaning and mainte-

nance programs will dominate activities at the school along with planning and final interviews regarding course selections for

2017.

Presentation Evening

Staff and students have been planning and organising segments of the Presentation Evening for some time now and everybody is

looking forward to this great event where the school and students can showcase their talents and be formally recognised for the

outstanding achievements they have achieved during the year.

The College formally invites the entire school community to this annual event and we hope to see you there on the evening.

Please note the dress code is semi-formal; T-shirts, shorts and thongs are not considered semi-formal attire. Staff and our gradu-

ating Year 12 students will set the tone for the evening and we hope that all participants can also comply for this one very special

evening.

Why Send Your Child to Corryong College?

I recently read an article entitled ‘Provincial Education Victoria – How small isolated State schools perform in comparison to

other provincial State schools’ by Margaret Simpson. The article accessed data from a number of sources one being the ‘Better

Education’, website. Corryong College is painted in a very positive light. The ‘Better Education’ website collates data from 530

schools across Victoria that offers Year 12. The data in the table below includes independent fee paying schools and catholic

school as well as DET State schools;

As you can see Corryong College is consistently well placed and always in the top 50% of all schools in the State and last year

we broke into the top 15% of the State. This is a great testimony of the support (both at home and at school) and quality of edu-

cation offered by the College.

A graph from the article above further emphasises the above point. This is a direct comparison of our

College with a Wodonga secondary provider from 2009 to 2014;

One would have to say that Corryong College is doing well, however we are not about to rest on our

laurels. Corryong College has a clear teacher improvement plan that we are confident will further im-

prove student outcomes.

So next time when you are asked how Corryong College is performing, this is one factor of school per-

formance that you could refer to.

This has made me realise that we are heading into the bushfire season and I am now asking you if the details we have on file are current.

If not it is important that you contact the General Office and ensure your current address and contact numbers are up to date.

Year 9 and 10 students have been participating

in Home Economics and prepared foods suita-

ble for the festive season. They have used sea-

sonal products, substituted ingredients, used

fresh ingredients as much as possible and

looked at what can be used from the freezer in

these recipes.
