We are proud to be celebrating the twelfth annual Controversies and Advances in the Treatment of Cardiovascular Disease symposium this year! The two-day scientific program will offer realistic views on many controversial issues in cardiovascular disease today. Session topics will include imaging, hypertension, stem cells, heart failure, coronary artery disease, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, mitral valve disease, and cardioembolic stroke.
Sessions will include a combination of debates, keynote lectures, crossfires, and roundtable discussions. A faculty of internationally known leaders in the field has been invited to share their knowledge and experiences with complex and controversial cases.
TA RG E T AU DI E NC E
The conference is designed for cardiologists, cardiovascular and thoracic surgeons, interventional cardiologists, perfusionists, ICU nurses, technicians and those involved in the diagnosis, treatment and care of individuals with controversial and complex cases of cardiac disease.

Submissions of original abstracts are being accepted and will be considered for oral presentation and poster display when submitted online at www.promedicacme.com.
The international abstract Competition will be held Thursday, September 20, 2012 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
Deadline for Abstract Submissions: August 24, 2012
Abstract Categories
: : Evaluate different imaging modalities and their treatment implications in the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases.
: : Understand the benefits and limitations of thiazide diuretics, the Cardiac J Curve, and renal denervation in the treatment of hypertension.
: : Learn the data from ongoing clinical trials in cell therapy for heart disease, and discuss new trials and their potential.
: : Discuss alternatives to the treatment of end stage heart disease, including organ engineering, xenotransplantation, and acquired tolerance for transplant achieved with bone marrow stem cells.
: : Measure the benefits and limitations of current approaches to medical therapy for
end stage heart disease, including stem cell therapy, mechanical circulatory support, individualized medicine, and the clinical trials for new therapies.
: : Compare and contrast statin safety and efficacy in the treatment of coronary artery disease.
: : Understand the controversies and debates surrounding transcatheter aortic valve replacement.
: : Learn the pathophysiology of mitral regurgitation and compare and contrast medical, interventional, and surgical therapies.
: : Evaluate the debates in stroke prevention for atrial fibrillation patients through medical, interventional, and surgical treatments.
