We are proud to be celebrating the eleventh annual Controversies and Advances in the Treatment of Cardiovascular Disease symposium this year! The two-day scientific program will offer realistic views on many controversial issues involved in the diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, structural heart disease – aortic and mitral, and hypertension. New sessions for this year include imaging and electrophysiology.
The scientific program will consist of sessions focused on treatment options for specific cardiovascular disease states. Each session will include a combination of case presentations, cross-fires, discussion panels, and question and answer periods. A faculty of internationally known leaders in the field has been invited to share their knowledge and experiences with complex and controversial cases.
TA RG E T Au DI E NC E
The conference is designed for cardiologists, cardiovascular and thoracic surgeons, interventional cardiologists, perfusionists, ICU nurses, technicians and those involved in the diagnosis, treatment and care of individuals with controversial and complex cases of cardiac disease.

Submissions of original abstracts are being accepted and will be considered for oral presentation and poster display when submitted online at www.promedicacme.com. The International Abstract Competition will be held Wednesday, October 12, 2011 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
Deadline for Abstract Submissions: September 23, 2011
Abstract Categories
: : Measure the benefits and limitations of the available treatments for congestive heart failure, including new drug therapies, transplant, assist devices, percutaneous left ventricular reconstruction, cell therapy, and palliative care.
: : Compare and contrast mitral valve therapies, including edge-to-edge repair and a minimally invasive surgical approach, and discuss the future direction of treatment options.
: : Understand the recent trials, points of contention, association viewpoints, lessons learned from carotid stenting, and the future direction for transcatheter aortic valve replacement.
: : Evaluate different imaging modalities and their roles in coronary artery disease, heart failure, and aortic valve replacement.
: : Compare and contrast coronary artery disease treatments – medical, PCI, and surgery.
: : Understand the controversies in the treatment of hypertension in the elderly.
: : Learn about electrophysiological and hybrid approaches to treating atrial fibrillation.
