CONTROL SYSTEM FOR MODERN HOUSE

ABSTRACTControl system for modern house is based on the Intels 8051 family of microcontroller. Features: Mail Notification, Power saving, Water saving and Smoke fire detection. So, it saves huge electric bills by saving electricity, lights are only switched ON during night times or when visibility is poor, It speaks out voice message at a regular interval that a new mail has arrived, It sounds an alarm whenever a flooding is detected on the floor, It sounds an alarm when gas leakage or smoke is detected.

automatic detection of human and Energy saving room architecture to reduce standby power consumption and to make the room easily controllable with an IR remote control of a home appliance. To realize the proposed room architecture, we proposed and designed the Zigbeecommunication. Zigbee is a low-cost, low-power, wireless mesh networking. The low cost allows the technology to be widely deployed in wireless control and monitoring applications, the low power-usage allows longer life with smaller batteries, and the mesh networking provides high reliability and larger range. The proposed auto detection of human done using the IR sensor to indicate the entering or exit of the persons. Microcontroller continuously monitors the infrared receiver. When any object pass through the IR receiver then the IR rays falling on the receiver are obstructed, this obstruction is sensed by the microcontroller also PIR sensor will check the presence of human beings with the help of radiations emitted by human beings. Then microcontroller will check the input coming from these two sensors and simultaneously if somebody is present then automatically checks for the light intensity and the temperature. And then if the room is found dark it switches ON the lights and if the temperature is more it switches ON the fans. And if nobody is present then all the lights will be switched off automatically.

INTRODUCTION

Generally in public and private sector companies, offices most of the people are not interested to switch OFF the consumer electronic appliances like fan, light etc, if they are not present. As more and more consumer electronic and home appliances are deployed and the size of them is becoming large, power consumption in home area tends to grow. Moreover, useless power consumption occurs when they do not perform the primary function. Although much effort is made to reduce the standby power of consumer devices themselves, efficient power management schemes over a room or home region are greatly required to reduce the total power consumption in home. The controlling and power monitoring capability is indispensable to home power management. The network capability is also required to communicate one another. In this paper, we propose a remote-controllable Automatic detection of human and Energy saving room architecture. To realize our proposed room architecture, ZigBee as wireless network is used to transfer the control information

FEATURES1. Mail NotificationThe control system for modern house is not a security device as compared to many commercial security devices available in the market. This project is a requirement of the modern multi- story buildings to have device like this. Multi-story buildings have an individual letter box fixed at the ground floor. Sometimes, on weekends, we do not go out for two to three days. We will never come to know that an urgent letter is lying in our letter box, could it be an appointment letter or a call letter for interview or something like that.2) Power saving We are also facing a acute shortage of electrical power these days, every now and then there is a power cut in some part of our city. If we could save little power from our house, it could be utilized elsewhere; it could be a good contribution towards national development process.

3) Water savingHalf of the population in this world, do not get fresh drinking water, Some places you must have seen, that the water is over flowing, and is being wasted .It is a precious Gods gift to us we should not allow it to be wasted in this way. This also happens in housing society where people sometimes leave the water tap open and leave their apartment. Overhead tank drains out in no time. This creates troubles for everybody in the society. I dont blame them that they do it purposely, what I mean is such thing doing happen. So we must have something to alarm us if there is a flooding on the floor.

Power supply is the main part of the circuit; the circuit needs the12V DC supply. But in our home 230 AC supply is available. So it has converted it to 12V DC and 5V DC by Rectifier circuit by regulator IC 7812 and 7805 respectively.Micro Controller is the Heart of the Circuit. In this circuit we are going to use the 8051 MCU. Microcontrollers are used in automatically controlled products and devices, such as automobile engine control systems, implantable medical devices, remote controls, office machines, appliances, power tools, toys and other embedded systems. LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screen is an electronic display module and find a wide range of applications. A 16x2 LCD display is very basic module and is very commonly used in various devices and circuits. These modules are preferred over even segmentsand other multi segmentLEDs.Flooding sensor is going to check the water level and depending upon the water level the motor is going to switch ON and OFF. Smoke detection sensor, So, it saves huge electric bills by saving electricity, lights are only switched ON during night times or when visibility is poor. It speaks out voice message at a regular interval that a new mail has arrived. It sounds an alarm whenever a flooding is detected on the floor. It sounds an alarm when gas leakage or smoke is detected.Driver IC is a high voltage and high current Darlington array IC. It contains open collector Darlington pairs with common emitters. Normally the resistance of an LDR is very high, sometimes as high as 1000 000 ohms, but when they are illuminated with light resistance drops dramatically.Asmoke detectoris a device that detectssmoke, typically as an indicator of fire. PIR Motion Sensor

PIR sensors allow you to sense motion, almost always used to detect whether a human has moved in or out of the sensors range. They are small, inexpensive, low-power, easy to use and don't wear out. For that reason they are commonly found in appliances and gadgets used in homes or businesses. They are often referred to as PIR, "Passive Infrared", "Pyroelectric", or "IR motion" sensors.

GSM Module:

This GSM Modem can accept any GSM network operator SIM card and act just like a mobile phone with its own unique phone number. The plus point of using this modem will be that you can use its RS232 port to communicate and develop embedded applications. It can be used to send and receive SMS or make/receive voice calls. It can also be used in GPRS mode to connect to the internet and use all the applications for data logging. In GPRS mode you can also connect to a remote FTP server and upload files for data analysis. Supports features like Voice, SMS, Data / Fax, GPRS and integrated TCP/IP stack
