  • Make new friends from new places.

Create the stories now that youll recount for decades to come.

Celebrate individuality, diversity, connections and a little bit of craziness.

Find comfort outside your comfort zone.

See the world through youthful eyes, with a little bit of naivety and a truckload of optimism.

You have one life. One shot. Make it count.

    Special StaY Nightstops Places visited

AustinTheres so much more than South by Southwest going on in the capital of Texas. Food trucks and cool bars will fuel you between days shopping up a storm of leather boots and bathing in natural springs. The hub of the cowboy country is coming alive.

nAshvilleNashville; capital of Tennessee and Music City of the USA. Bursting with southern charm, it will have your attention from the first bite of famous hot chicken til the final drink at a honky-tonk bar.

sAn FrAnciscoThose pretty cable cars rolling down hilly streets; that big golden bridge; the endless list of cafs brimming with cool locals. Youll be hard pressed to find a city in the world as lovable as this one, so cute it calls for flowers in your hair.

Boston The capital of Massachusetts and home of Harvard University, Boston is a surprise and delight on the USA map. Walk the Freedom Trail and marvel at charming old streets, then eat and indulge your way through Quincy Marketplace youre in the city where old and new collide to perfection.

MontreAlA buzzing mix of French flamboyance and chilled North American vibes, Canadas second largest city will leave you spellbound. Stroll museums, potter through hip boutiques and marvel at just how handsome this tree-lined island city is.

BAnFFPicture yourself walking above glaciers, getting cosy in a Rocky Mountain Chalet and horse riding in rugged Canadian valleys. Ah yes, beautiful Banff calls in tree huggers and snow lovers to this stunning adventure haven.

YellowstoneThe US state of Wyoming may not ring any bells, but Yellowstone National Park and its icon, Old Faithful, surely will. Watch the geyser erupt into rainbows of mist, keep your eyes peeled for grizzly bears, and take in Mother Nature at her absolute best.

lAs vegAsNeeding very little introduction, Vegas is a rite of passage that takes playtime to a whole new level. Party buses, clubs and all-night fun turn up the dial as far as your inner wild child desires.

In the expanses of the USA and Canada, you can find something incredible at every point of

the compass, and a Contiki trip that will take you there, too. Visit contiki.com/usa-canada

WHATS THE KEY TO UNLOCKING THE USA AND CANADA? LOCAL KNOWLEDGE, HANDS DOWN.

AND OUR TEAM HAS IT IN ABUNDANCE.

Ask anyone whos travelled these parts knowing a local is your ticket to an epic trip. Its one thing having a friend or acquaintance to hit up, but having someone by your side unlocking the region for you? Invaluable. Our Trip Managers, Local Guides and Drivers are the difference between a good trip and one that knocks your socks off.

We can only pity travellers that choose to travel independently, who dash around looking for WiFi so they can tap into Google maps, rummage through TripAdvisor and hassle their Facebook crowd. Poor possums. Meanwhile, your trip is 110% hassle free.

Our team has been sent through rigorous training. They live to show you a good time and strive to see you fall head over heels for their country. Secret eats, hole-in-the-wall bars and hidden landscapes are just the beginning.

Meet our amazing team at contiki.com/team you can even stalk your way into their Instagram accounts through this link and suss out the USA and Canada through their eyes.

Since 2008 Contiki has partnered with some incredible organisations

and people who we continue to support today. These provide support for sustainability and conservation initiatives, and

educate travellers through Earth Month expeditions.

    Contiki Cares

TRAVELLING RESPONSIBLYResponsible travel is about treading lightly in the destinations we visit. Its about respecting the communities and cultures that are so different from our own, understanding the importance of traditions, investing in local economy and putting the environment first. Responsible travel is both a mind-set, and a way of doing things. There are countless ways in which you can travel responsibly. Heres just a few of the ways we do:

We actively support locally owned operators and businesses, with some of our supplier relationships dating back 30 years.

We contribute to the protection and preservation of local historical and archaeological sites, as well as biodiversity conservation and naturally protected areas.

We incorporate elements of local art and cultural heritage in our trips, such as visiting the Crazy Horse Memorial in South Dakota, whose mission is to preserve the culture and living heritage of North American Indians.

We proudly support the Boys and Girls Club of Anaheim, CA with our Wheels for Change programme. Our travellers donate spare change which goes towards providing disadvantaged children with transport to the club where they receive after-school tutoring, play time in a safe environment and an afternoon snack.

THE STORYBOOT PROJECTThe Storyboot Project was created to revive the traditional art of mukluk and moccasin making. It is a global online marketplace where Aboriginal artists can showcase their one-of-a-kind, traditional made products, receiving 100% of the proceeds. TreadRight recently awarded their Heritage Initiative grant to the project, where funding will go towards creating an educational space at the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto. Here, an Aboriginal artisan will teach weekly mukluk making sessions to local indigenous students, as well as introducing the art to visiting groups Contiki travellers included. The grant will allow the Storyboot Project to create a not-for-profit, artisan-run indigenous arts programme that not only sustains a vital indigenous craft, but also allows travellers from across the globe to understand the cultural importance of this ancient tradition.

CONTIKI + DETROIT DIESEL DD13 ENGINES = A HAPPIER PLANETDid you know that coach travel is one of the greenest forms of transport? Think about it for every full coach, there are 16 fewer cars on the road. But we dont just stop there. Our fleet of super sleek, sexy and efficient coaches have DD13 engines which use BlueTec Emissions technology to convert all the dangerous fumes into a mix of harmless products for the environment. Which basically means, just by sitting on our coaches youre already doing your part for the planet. Pretty sweet, right?

  • CONTIKI LOVES THE PLANET

Contiki is proud to be using 100% recycled LEIPA paper for the body of our brochures. It is just part of The Travel Corporation way, and

another sign we really dig this planet of ours.

    USA & CANADA 2016-18 25

REUSE, REDUCE, RECYCLESingle use plastics a term that really gets our gripe. Did you know that it takes over 1000 years for a piece of plastic to decompose? Or, that every single piece of plastic ever created still exists in some form? Crazy, huh? Recycling is a no-brainer, and on each Contiki coach we collect and recycle empty plastic bottles. But recycling isnt the long term sustainable solution reducing plastic usage entirely is, which is why we sell reusable aluminium water bottles on our trips and always ensure we visit places where you can fill up on the go. In the last year weve also reduced our paper consumption on trips by 25%, creating online forms our Trip Managers can access whilst on the road.

Each yEar contiki & our travEl corporation sistEr companiEs takE part in projEcts aimEd to protEct and prEsErvE consErvation arEas.

In the past weve removed invasive species and planted endemic plants at the Grand Canyon and collected native seeds at Yosemite, and last summer we cleaned beaches and built fences around nesting grounds on Catalina Island. Its our way of saying thanks to the destinations we visit.

Contiki, in partnership with the TreadRight Foundation, encourages the sustainable development of tourism by projects that benefit the environment, heritage and community. Visit treadright.org to check out our exciting new partnerships with WildAid and Alliance for Artisan Enterprise.
