What’s better than going to Europe? Having someone on hand to make sure you have a good time, that’s what. Our team’s sole purpose is to make your trip the time of your life. With our Tour Managers & Tour Drivers at the ready, there’s always a reliable friend at hand to show you the sights, cool local places & make everything easy.

Your dedicated Tour Manager is like an on-road guide book. We’ve plucked the best of the bunch & sent them on a training trip (the best in the industry) to be able to make the cut on our tours. In fact, we’ve written the book on training. They’ve done the hard yards, are packed full of knowledge & they’re ready to share it all with you. They take care of all the details so everything runs smoothly & will organise a sightseeing tour or orientation walk in every place that you stop.

Your trusty Tour Drivers are the same, they’ve trained hard to make sure they’ll get you where you need to go without any hassle. You can sit back & relax knowing that choosing to go Contiki means reading a map & fi nding the hotel is never your problem.

And on our ski & board trips in Austria, you’ll get our expert on-site team at our Contiki-only Gasthof. Because they live on-site, they’re great for local knowledge & know Hopfgarten like the back of their hands.

And to top it off, to give our travellers that essential local perspective, in many locations we also use local guides for an expert insider’s look at destinations too.

We lead, the others follow.

Getting around\

Mark, Tour Manager: “I took 12 months off work to travel the world & during that time I did the Ultimate European tour. My Tour Manager said I should apply for a job & that’s what planted the seed. I love that my offi ce is somewhere new everyday, I get to meet people from all over the globe & share their experiences.”

Shona, on-site team: “I did a tour in 2008 & I applied the following year. When I was travelling I saw the on-site teams & thought “I want to do that”. The best thing about my job is meeting new people every day - I see how excited they are & it reminds me of my fi rst trip to Europe.”

Location, location, location When you stay in the city, it’s not just about great facilities & comfort. We know it’s essential to be as close as possible to where the action’s at, so you spend less time getting there & more time experiencing the places that count.

AppétitT

ravel is all about exploring & there’s no better place to try loads of different food than in Europe. On every tour you’ll get breakfast every day & about half your evening meals, but we don’t include every

meal (especially lunches) for a reason. Here’s why. We keep meal times fl exible to give you more independence & a chance to go local, while having the freedom & fl exibility to suit your budget too.

Winter in Europe is the perfect time to indulge in some seriously delicious regional delicacies. Think French onion soup covered in crusty bread, fondue in Switzerland, plus bratwurst & sauerkraut in Germany (to name a few). The atmosphere of

winter is awesome too - wandering the Christmas markets indulging in gluhwein, raclette cheese & delicious waffl es is the perfect winter experience.

On our Time Out In-Depth Regional tours, we’ve included some extra special meals at local restaurants in the tour price, think authentic Italian pizza, tapas in Barcelona & mouthwatering carbonara in Rome.

On many of our Explore More optional nights out there’s loads of ways to indulge, like feasting in the Tuscan hills whilst sipping on Chianti, indulging in meze in Istanbul, having traditional bratwurst or fondue in Switzerland & duck a l’orange in Paris are just a few options that will tempt you on your trip.

No matter what your tastes (or your dietary requirements), you’ll love what we serve up.

Bon French onion soup like only the locals can do. Spicy paella made fresh in Barcelona. Pizza done the authentic way in Rome... It’s all about tantalising your taste buds in Europe....

Helping protect our oceans\

Working to make a difference\

Did you know that oceans cover 71% of the globe, but less than 1% are under legal protected status? Beyond beautiful pictures, there’s the harsh realization that this environment is fragile & it’s up to us to protect it for ourselves & for future generations.

Contiki is actively supporting two projects involved in the critical task of marine protection. We’re helping young environmentalists in their hands-on work protecting the world’s second largest barrier reef via the Mesoamerican Reef Leadership program. We’re also backing Oceana’s valuable research work in the Mediterranean Sea.

Check out contiki.com/responsibletravel, where you’ll fi nd a hub of oceans information designed to inform, inspire & compel change.

Contiki & Celine CousteauWe are excited about our partnership with leading environmentalist, adventurer & explorer, Celine Cousteau, granddaughter of legendary oceanographer, Jacques Cousteau. Celine will be working with us to raise awareness about environmental issues, like those affecting precious marine ecosystems.

As a documentary fi lmmaker & gifted storyteller, Celine has a fantastic ability to connect with people from a diverse range of cultures, helping individuals to better understand their own natural environments.

Check out Celine’s video message for Contiki travellers at contiki.com/celinecousteau

“I am passionate about collaborating with Contiki, their team & travellers; who are part of the new generation of active citizens making a difference by understanding & protecting the Earth’s resources. The health of our fragile oceans

are key to the well-being of our planet as a whole & Contiki‘s choice to help protect the marine environment is a cause which deeply resonates with me.” Celine Cousteau.

Recycling. The Travel Corporation & Contiki are committed to use 100% recycled paper for the body stock of all our brochures. The environmental benefi ts are important in the following ways:

• By using paper made from recycled fi bre we save approximately 90,000 trees per year.*

• Recycled paper makes for less waste being deposited into landfi lls.

• The paper mill uses a chlorine free fi bre bleaching process (PCF) that avoids potential dioxins from being release into adjoining waterways.

• The paper mill uses a complex fi ltration process that returns the river water in a cleaner state than initially received.

• The use of 100% recovered fi bre means that the mill uses approximately 1/5th of the energy that would be required to produce corresponding grades from primary fi bres.

Our Foundation. We’re founding partners of The Travel Corporation Conservation Foundation, a non-profit who has committed more than US$2 million to help underprivileged communities & support sustainable tourism around the world.

From sponsoring the Tourism for Tomorrow Awards encouraging tourism operators to develop & share sustainable tourism practices globally, to supporting Contiki’s own special causes such as ocean conservation, the Foundation is doing some great work.

On the road. Compared to cars, planes & trains, coaches are by far the most carbon efficient way to travel. Our modern coaches are some of the best in Europe & all exceed strict emission regulations.

• The body stock paper in our brochures meets the following Forest/Environmental/Process Certifi cations: PEFC, Blue Angel, ISO 9001 and 14001.

We are proud to commit to using what is one of the most environmentally friendly coated recycled paper on Planet Earth.* Calculation based on that provided by The Environmental

Defense Fund.

What about you? Looking after our planet is important & taking care of the environment shouldn’t stop when you go travelling. There are lots of small things that you can do each day to make a difference. Simple stuff like re-using your drink bottle instead of buying a new one each day, choosing products with less packaging, recycling on the go or simply turning off the lights when you leave your hotel room are all ways to lessen your environmental impact.

Did you know you can reduce your carbon footprint even more by offsetting your travel? Find out how at contiki.com/responsibletravel.

Got a question?Answers to frequently asked questions & things you need to know:

Do I need visas? Please read carefully. Depending on your nationality, you may require visas to enter certain countries included in your tour. You are fully responsible for obtaining all necessary visas prior to the departure of your tour. Contiki are not legally permitted to knowingly allow anybody who does not have a valid visa to join a tour. Consult your travel agent to determine which visas you require & how to obtain them.Schengen Visas The majority of our tours travel in countries that are covered by the Schengen Agreement which relates to visas. Citizens of many countries – eg. Australia, United States, Canada, New Zealand – can travel in the Schengen area without a visa. If you require a visa to enter the Schengen area you only need to obtain one visa which will allow you to travel in all Schengen countries. Schengen visas can be issued for single entry or multiple entries. If your tour travels outside of the Schengen area at any point you will require a multiple entry visa. The Spanish Spree tour requires a multiple entry Schengen visa.Visas for Non-Schengen CountriesSome of our tours also visit countries that are not covered by the Schengen Agreement. You may require visas for countries including the United Kingdom, Ireland & Egypt. Depending on your nationality it may be possible to obtain

visas for Egypt upon arrival – you should check before you depart for your tour.Important1. Visas can take up to six weeks & a fee is

normally charged.2. Failure to obtain all necessary visas could

cause you to miss part of your tour & will result in you incurring considerable expense & inconvenience.

3. It is better to apply for all visas through your travel agent before you leave home. Your travel agent will contact Contiki for full details.

4. Contiki will provide you with visa contacts from our London base at the Royal National Hotel, if necessary.
