Systematic Random Sampling:Members of the population are put in some order. A starting point is selected at random, and every nth member is selected to be in the sample.

Kick Off:
Explain how you could use “systematic random sampling” to select HHS students to participate in a survey. Include enough detail to ensure that this sampling method meets the definition.

Which way will the Hershey’s kiss land?
Learning Intentions:I will be able to:
● State and check the Random, 10%, and Large Counts conditions for constructing a confidence interval for a population proportion.
● Determine the critical value for calculating a C% confidence interval for a population proportion using a table or technology.
● Construct and interpret a confidence interval for a population proportion.
Work w/ your team to collect your data and complete the first page.
We’ll do #8 as a whole class.
Finish the second page with your team.
Get out a pen to annotate your work.
8.2 Confidence Intervals for Population ProportionIMPORTANT IDEAS:
Conditions:
1. Random (to ensure it’s representative of the population)
2. 10% → n ≤ ⅒ N (so we can use formulas for 𝜇 and 𝜎)
3. Large Counts (so we can use Normal approx.)
Critical Values:
90%: z* = 1.645
95%: z* = 1.960
99%: z* = 2.576
Confidence Interval for P:
To find any %, use (1 - %)/2 and use Table A or InvNorm
S.E. for P
