Total Vertical Production, making Comtrafo a completely independent company, that can fulfill any commitments assumed, without needing to rely on third parties for production;

Comtrafo has its own silicon steel slitting and cutting line, consisting of 2 Italian machines (LAE and Bollina), that can serve our whole production. A third cutting machine is already at its way, to even double our capacity;

2 special Winding environments, with controlled temperature and sealed environment, to produce top quality cast resin windings and extra high voltage windings, with more than 9 windings machines, being 1 LAE LV winding machine capable of reaching 40MVA power coils production;

2 encapsulation units, being 1 the biggest in Brazil, which is being used to produce the 25/31,5MVA HV Cast Resin Transformer windings for PETROBRAS, COMPERJ project.

PETROBRAS:

Petrobras is the largest company of Brazil, and also the biggest buyer of Cast Resin Transformers at the moment;

After supplying for many cast resin transformers for several Petrobras projects, COMTRAFO was awarded to supply for the most audacious Cast Resin project ever in Brazil: The COMPERJ Pre-Salt Refinery Project

Competing against companies such as SIEMENS, ABB and SCHNEIDER, COMTRAFO was the most competitive and capable of all, being the only company that had capacity to produce the 25/31,5MVA 36kV Cast Resin transformers fully in Brazil. Even SIEMENS didn’t have the machinery, and would need to bring these transformers from Germany.

COMPERJ Refinery Project, Phase 1, consists in more than 500MVA, 180 units of Cast Resin Transformers up to 36kV 25/31,5MVA, especially design to work on very low temperatures, and to power many equipments of the refinery, including the core pumps. Phase 2 and Phase 3 are expected to triplicate this quantity of transformers.

In 2012 COMTRAFO was nominated as the best supplier of Petrobras COMPERJ project, among other electrical equipment suppliers, because of its short time response, quality, and attendance to all Petrobras requirements, winning against ABB, Schneider, Ametek and Orteng, which are supplying other equipments for Comperj Project such as panels, switchgears, automation, and so.

ELETROBRAS GROUP:

Eletrobras Group is the largest generation, transmission and distribution company of Brazil. It is currently formed by almost 70% of all Brazil’s Grid.

As part of it, there are well know electrical generation and transmission companies such as ELETRONUCLEAR, FURNAS and CHESF, with grids up to 700kV Extra High Voltage.

Comtrafo as awarded to supply more than 45 Million Dollars in power transformers for the group, including classified area transformers for ELETRONUCLEAR, for its new ANGRA 3 Nuclear Plant.

VALE Mining company:

After several years of a concept that reigned within mining companies that Cast Resin transformers were unsafe and unreliable to apply in their mining projects, COMTRAFO, after a long and extensive work, was able to break this paradigm, and started supplying Cast Resin transformers for the most aggressive environments found in these companies installations and mines. VALE signed a contract with COMTRAFO for the supply of many Cast Resin transformers for their latest projects, taking a step ahead the competitors.
