(1) Road March

The Road March to mark the public launch of Metro Mission 14, MM14 was held on Sunday January 12,2014. Persons in the heart of Half-Way-Tree in St. Andrew and its environs were forced to stop and take inthe unusual scenery of various uniformed groups and church persons marching to the beat of drums and

(2) Pastors Prayer Conference 

A Prayer Conference will be held for all Pastors and their Families in the eastern Region on SabbathJanuary 18, 2014 at the New Haven SDA church. All Pastors falling within the East Jamaica, Central and North East Jamaica Conferences are expected to be in attendance at this event which is in relation to aweek of prayer for Pastors slated to run from January 31 through to February 8, 2014.

 (3) Convention 2014

The Annual Convention will take place at the Kencot SDA Church beginning at 9:00 a.m. Newly electedofficers and leaders of the church are invited to attend this special event designed to prepare the church for

the work ahead.

(4) MM 14 Gospel Campaign

The MM14 Campaign –  “Count Down to the End” begins  at the National Heroes Circle thisSunday starting at 7:15 p.m. Come and hear the dynamic International Speaker and Family LifeEducator Pastor Shian O’Conner. The meetings will run daily with the exception of Thursdays. Allare invited to attend.

(5) Notices from the Sabbath School / Personal Ministries / Comm. Services Department

1.  All Sabbath School Superintendents & Personal Ministries Leaders are reminded that

your quarterly report is now overdue (January 10, 2014).

2.  All School of Evangelism graduates for 2013 are encouraged to make contact with the EJC

Sabbath School Department, if you have not yet done so.

3.  Zones 4 Convention will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the Morant Bay SDA

Church.

4.  Metro Mission 14 Road March for the Yallahs/Woodburn Districts of Churches will be held

on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at 3 p.m. Pastor Glen O. Samuels will be the Campaign

speaker, January 25 –  March 2.

5.  Community Services leaders Monthly meeting, Sunday, January 26, 10 a.m. & Senior

Citizens’ Bi-monthly meeting at 2 p.m. in the EJC Chapel.

6.  All Zones 1-3 Community Services leaders are invited to the first monthly meeting to be held

on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at 10 a.m. in the EJC Chapel.

7.  The 2014-2015 Ambassador search has begun. We are encouraging all churches to have the

 juniors, teens and youth, ages 13-22 years participating in this programme.

8.  All Sabbath School Superintendents please ensure the implementation of the Parent Care

Group (PCG) & Operation Reclamation and to register the relevant names to the MM14

Initiative.

To: Pastors, Church Clerks & Community Services Leaders (Zones 1-3)

Dear Brethren:

Welcome to the office of Community Services Leader for 2014. Thanks for accepting the call to beco-labourers with our Lord Jesus, Saviour and soon coming King! Adventist Community Services(ACS) is about Christian, selfless service to our neighbours. Those among us who are not formallytrained ACS workers should register in the EJC School of Evangelism. Regular classes begin onMay 4, 2014. Project proposal writing classes are going on now –  Mondays and Tuesdays at HalfWay Tree SDA Church.

You are cordially invited to our first monthly meeting, which is held every fourth Sunday, at the EastJamaica Conference office in the chapel at 10 a.m.

(6) Notices from the Health Ministries Department

1.   No organization can operate effectively without an operational budget. We are asking our

Pastors to turn in their church budget by the end of March 2014.

2.  kindly take note of the following Stewardship dates:

a.  Stewardship Week –  April 19-26, 2014

 b.  Stewardship Convention –  May 3, 2014

c.  Stewardship Training for Pastors –  May 5, 2014 (IAD,JAMU)

3.  One of the tools to be given to the Pastors and Stewardship Directors in the churches is a

series of Stewardship lessons for members called “A Guide to Counsels on Stewardship.”  This

includes ten lessons which can be conducted over a two months period. Please turn in an

order for the number of lessons you need for your church. The cost for each book is $150.

4.  The Ministerial Department in collaboration with the Health Ministries Department of East

Jamaica will conduct a Medical Missionary Training for Pastors –  An Introduction to Health

Evangelism. The Programme will be conducted every Thursday in May –  Dates: May 1st ,

5th 20th  22nd and June 5th. . The venue will be East Jamaica Conference Boardroom

 beginning at 9:30 a.m. –  4:00 p.m. Please register now: - Hydrotherapy and Nutrition,

Vegetarian Cooling, Anatomy and Physiology, Herbal Remedies, God’s Healing Programme,

Health Evangelism, Health Reform, Basic First Aid. These are some of the topics to be

 presented.

5. SDA Schools Temperance Week –  February 17 –  21, 2014

6. 5K Run/Walk and Children’s Fun Day –  June 1, 2014

7. Global Conference on Health and Lifestyle (Geneva, Switzerland)

(7) Notices from the Children’s Ministries Department 

1.  A child from the New Haven SDA church was recently highlighted in a newsletter of theBarbados chapter of ASI stemming from the Mission to Costa Rica. (Click here to read more) 

2.  Children’s Ministries team members of ZONES 1-3 your commitment service and luncheonmeeting will take place on January 18, 2014 at the Kencot SDA Church. Kindly be seated by 10:30 a.m.

3.  Team members every week you are sent a note from your EJC Director’s desk through thePRO Kareen Simpson as well as the Communication Department. For 2014, we would like

you to keep abreast of current happenings. Kindly indicate that you are actually receiving themail.

4.  ASI/IAD Mission Preachers get ready to preach the word in the Metro Mission 2014

Children’s Crusade. Invite your friends and watch them give their hearts to God. 

5.  Child Preachers’ graduation will be held on March 8, 2014. 

6.  All persons, new and returning missionaries from zones 1-4 who have an interest in the

mission trip to Belize are invited to a prayer session on February 1, 2014 in the EJC

Boardroom beginning at 3:30 p.m. Parents of missionaries under 18 are expected to be in

attendance.

7.  Church Selection of Bible Spell-a-thon participants February 22, 2014

8.  Commendations to the many team members of Zone 4 who turned out for our CommitmentService which was convened at the Morant Bay SDA Church. Let’s keep the fire burning.

(8) Women’s Ministries Department 

1.  All Girls of Eloquence Morals and Standards (GEMS) are expected to be at the commitmentservice to be held at the Kencot Church this Sabbath, January 18, 2014. The attire is yourGEMS uniform. All persons are expected to be seated by 10:30 a.m. A luncheon meeting

follows. Among the items to be discussed are Mother Daughter Conference, GEMS Anniversaryand Soft Skills Rooms and More.

2.  Women’s & Children’s Ministries team members of ZONES 1-3 your commitment service andluncheon meeting will take place on January 18, 2014 at the Kencot SDA Church. Kindly beseated by 10:30 a.m. The women’s ministries shades of lavender and or purple are the preferredcolors to be worn on that day. Kindly take a fruit to augment our luncheon meeting.

3.  Hats off to the team members of zone 4 for your attendance at our commitment exercise held atMorant Bay Church. Heaven is pleased.

4.  Level 3 Leaders’ Certification Training (part 1) will be conducted from March 27-29, 2014 atGolden Acres.

5.  Moms in TOUCH Launch / Women’s Day of Prayer/ will be held on March 1, 2014. 

6.  Soft Skills graduation will be held on February 23, 2014 in the EJC Boardroom beginning at4:00p.m.

(9) Youth Ministries Department

1.BIBLE BOOM 2014: Promises to be more inspiring, interesting and fun. The Books to be studied are

Hosea-Malachi. Every AYS must be on board as we want our youth to become men and women of theWORD!!! More info to come.

2. EJC YOUTH WORKSHOP: On February 2, 2014 there will be a grand Youth Workshop for all AYLeaders, Adventurer and Pathfinder Club Director at the EJC, starting at 9: am sharp.

3. ZONAL FEDERATIONS: The Current Federation Presidents and Area Coordinators are asked tocontinue in their current positions until elections are called on February2, 2014. (This will be done at EJCYouth Workshop). Thanks!!!

4. PATHFINDER JAMBOREE 2014: All Pathfinder Clubs get ready to spend your Easter Weekend withhundreds of youth from Jamaica Union @ Pathfinder Jamboree 2014. Stay Posted for more details.

5. GLOBAL YOUTH DAY 2014 /(GYD 2014): Start planning for this grand event…it will be bigger, and better than 2013! (Please give the orders for your T-Shirts to your Area Coordinators). The subsidized costwill be given soon.

6.JAMU E-News: The Jamaica Union is now inviting youth to submit news items, testimonials, cleanChristian jokes, stories, significant happenings in your area and other articles to the EJC Youth Departmentfor inclusion in its upcoming E-Paper. Submission should be sent to [email protected].

The Andrew’ Memorial SDA church will be facilitating training to not only cover Fashion Design but also Computer literacy and Entrepreneurial modules. This is a Heart NTA -Certified Course andis designed to equip persons to apply these skills to help themselves financially. The course is
