Grades K – 2Students will perform at Level 3 or above on:
– WCPSS Mathematics Assessment
– WCPSS Literacy Assessment• Kindergarten, Late Emergent• Grade 1, Late Developing• Grade 2, Early Independent
Grades 3 - 5Students will perform at Level 3 or above on:
• WCPSS Math Assessment
• WCPSS Literacy Assessment
• NC End-of-Grade Test of Reading Comprehension (not in 2008)
• NC End-of-Grade Test of Mathematics
• Grade 4 N.C. Writing Test
Grades 6 - 8Student will receive passing grades in:
• Language Arts course
• Mathematics course
• Science or Social Studies courses
• 50% of other courses, which includes electives
In addition, at grades 6 – 8, students must receive a Level 3 on:
1. End-of-grade test in mathematics
2. End-of-grade test in reading• Not in 2008
Grades 9 - 12 1. In addition to earning course credit, a student
must demonstrate proficiency on 5 End-of-Course Tests:
• English I• Algebra I• Biology• US History• Civics and Economics

• Examples include:– Coaching– Mentoring– Tutoring– Saturday school– Extended days
Personalized Education Plan (PEP)
• For students who do not score Level 3 or above on end-of-grade tests in reading and mathematics*
• Developed by current teacher
• Used for students who are promoted or retained
* not in 2008
PEPs:
• Serve as the road map for students to receive the help they need to become proficient, at the minimum.
• Sent from one school to another (elementary to middle to high).
• Within in elementary school, the report card serves as PEP.
