Presidents Message

Compatriots,

It’s a bit hard to believe that this is my final letter to you as Cincinnati SAR President. Thank you all again for your outstanding service, dedication, cooperation and support that has made this a very exceptional two years for our chapter!

We have accomplished so much together! Our chapter has grown in both size and expertise. We have been recognized by our state and national societies. More people now know who we are and what we do. Our youth speaker programs and youth contests are expanding and we are spreading the ideals of our patriot ancestors throughout our region. We greet our returning Honor Flight veterans. We honor outstanding ROTC cadets. We welcome new citizens at naturalization ceremonies. We mark and memorialize our patriot ancestors’ graves. We march and participate in a wide variety of civic events. We have developed strong NSDAR relations. We also support and attend many state and national SAR events. This is all due to your exceptional work in our schools, churches, civic organizations, veterans groups, and our state and national societies. Our patriotic bond that is based on our joint dedication to the principles of our patriot ancestors is what binds us all so strongly. I’m truly proud to have served as the president of such a committed brotherhood of patriotic leaders.

I look forward to new ideas and continuing growth under the guidance of our 2019 president, Turner Lee Wilkerson III, our 2019 officers and the 2019 Board of Management. I wish them and our chapter the best of success! You will always have my unfailing support. May God bless you all!

Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah!

Revolutionary War Monument -1876

Heroes Grove-Marshall Hill

Eden Park- Cincinnati, OhioOn one weekend in April 2000, a number of compatriots met to visit the Revolutionary War

Monument in Heroes Grove on Marshall Hill in Eden Park. There were originally 36 oak trees

planted here that were brought from Valley Forge, one for each Patriot listed on the monument.

Several replacement trees were planted by the U.S. Marine Corps in 1976 to commemorate the

Bicentennial. Heroes Grove is east of the water tower.

The inscription states:

Dedicated to the memory of the Heroes of 1776 and the Patriots who suffered with Washington

at Valley Forge. Brought from that historic ground and planted by A.E. Jones April 27, 1876.
