OBSERVATIONS FOR DISCUSSIONS(1/2):
• Review GPM Constitution and structure/system (Synod Exco & Constitution
Committee)
• to evaluate and enhance the responsibility and competency/suitability of all in
service.
• to empower lay leaders for higher responsibility.
• Effective resource allocation
• Assign pastors to weaker church (Presbytery Exco and local church)
• Re-deploy pastors for personal and kingdom development in green fields or
church plants e.g. BM pastors (HR Committee/ ESP-KBM).
• Introduce pastor’s succession planning (HR Committee)
• Hire pastors from other reformed churches (HR Committee)
OBSERVATIONS FOR DISCUSSIONS (2/2):
•Recruit in advance from Seminaries.(HR Committee)
•Develop training program in leadership/management,
people/crisis management etc. to enhance competency
levels of pastors and to inculcate kingdom mind-set, and
be relevant to the times.(Education Committee)
•Introduce a internship program (HR Committee)
•Revamp system and communication to improve pastors’
sense of ownership and inclusiveness in the organisation.

Distribution of leaders in churches by Presbyteries
Total # Church #church with trained leaders #trained leaders
6 churches with 0 pastor and 0 lay leader
CWW Goal in 2020 : 960 trained leaders
OBSERVATIONS & COMMENTS:
• About half of the churches have some trained leaders. Based on current progress,
there will only be 360 trained leaders in 2020, achieving 38% of goal.
• A serious matter : 6 churches are without pastor and trained leaders.
• Having adequate and competent lay leaders is becoming extremely important due
to:
• Current shortage of pastors
• The Presbyterian structure and set-up
• Proposed corrective strategies:
• Develop programs to train entry-level leaders and others on continuous
education – Education Committee
• Regular talent-scouting e.g. young potentials in PTI – Presbytery Exco and PTI
Committee

CWW Goal in 2020 : 50% of people in mission
OBSERVATIONS & COMMENTS:
•GPM as a whole does not appear to be a missional church.
•After the survey of the mission committee what has taken
place to make churches more missional? Has mission fund
been directed according to importance of its use? (mission
committee)
•Consider maximising the resources available, both human
and funding, from organization such as CWM for mission
ministries.

CWW Goal in 2020 : all 150 churches sustain 1 ministry
OBSERVATIONS & COMMENTS (1/2):
•Other than ESP-KBM Torajan ministry and the OA ministry
locally, cross cultural ministry seems to focus more at
host countries in Myanmar, Cambodia and others.
•There does not seem to be many meaningful sustainable
cross-cultural mission at our door-step. The opportunity of
evangelizing to more than 5 million migrant workers in the
country is still un-tapped. (Church growth committee and
Presbytery Exco)
OBSERVATIONS & COMMENTS:
• The current social-political situation in the country and the hostility
towards Christianity at home and abroad make evangelizing to the Bahasa
speaking communities throughout the country becoming more urgent
• To exploit the strength of the growing Torajan congregation and the
relatively larger number of BM speaking pastors, whether to consider
setting up more aggressively BM congregations in East Malaysia and in
the Peninsula. (Church growth committee and ESP Exco)
• Do necessary things to make KBM and Torajan church feel inclusive in
GPM. Empower their pastors and leaders. Take them as equal partner in
the Presbytery. (Synod Exco & ESP Exco)

CWW Goal in 2020 : 80% of people in community ministry
OBSERVATIONS & COMMENTS:
• Churches are far from impacting the community as only 18 churches
(out of 48) have 15% and more of the people involved in community.
• More churches are embarking on one-off, short-sighted ministry
e.g.7979 which lacks long-term sustainable, impactful community
program e.g. EIP in Gereja Grace Batu Pahat. (Presbytery Exco)
• To evaluate existing community projects for potential to develop into
sustainable projects, considering the resource allocation.

COMMENTS (1/2):
• Every citizen, person or corporate, has the responsibility and right
to uphold the Federal Constitution of the nation and the justice and
equality of its people. Prolonged failure and continuous
lackadaisical attitude would aggravate the worsening situation in
this country.
• GPM churches have to be awakened. The least the church and its
people can do is to fervently pray persistently and to express its
stand on injustice etc. while waiting for fulfilment of God’s promise
for His people.
COMMENTS (2/2):
•Church leaders especially the pastors have to take
leadership role in creating awareness of nation
building in the church. Propose to get Christian
elected representatives to share with pastors and
leaders occasionally; start with Synod AGM and
Presbytery AGM?

yes no4252 people in CWW Day
COMMENTS:
• It appears that just about half of the people have heard or
remembered CWW three years after the launch.
• To improve communication:
• “Tien Huo” which features CWW articles regularly has to be
bilingual, if not trilingual.
• All publications/reports need to be done, at least, with English
alongside Chinese
• All meetings have to take cognizance of the presence of ESP and
KBM members.
• To continue with roadshows
