From the Desk of Father Jonathan
Recently I was at the hospital with a family and I met a wonderful doctor who inspired me very much. We were talking about life and death and he said..."Father, after many, many years working with patients who were preparing to die, I have learned that there is some things that are completely outside of my control." "Predicting the causes and time of death", he continued, "is not black and white. It is not like you see in the movies". He went on to explain to me that, as a scientist, he realizes that while we can explain many things through evidence, there is a mystery about life and death that the scientist must respect if he or she is intellectually honest. He described death as a "transition" from one state of life to another. He described it as a "journey of the soul to God" that we must honor as something bigger than the best of science.
This doctor reminded me of what we already know....that God is the author of life, and he is stronger than death itself. He gives and he takes away. But he only takes away to offer us something better.
This week, let us pray for our friends and our neighbors, our co-workers and our associates. Let us pray for ourselves. We pray that each of us would prepare ourselves to be always ready to meet God face-to-face, whenever he calls.
God bless,
Fr. Jonathan

REFLECTING ON GOD’S WORD Sunday Gospel: Luke 16, 19-31
Heavy rains brought floods, forcing a man to climb onto his roof. People in a rowboat came and said, “Get in.” “No,” replied the man. “I have faith; God will save me.” So they rowed away. A speedboat came roaring by. “Climb in!” shouted the driver. “No,” said the man. “I have faith; God will save me.” The driver gunned the engine and left. The water lapped at the roof as the man prayed for rescue. A helicopter approached. The pilot shouted that he would lower a rope. “No,” replied the man. “I have faith: God will save me.” The helicopter left as the man prayed desperately. The floodwaters rose further and in the fierce currents the man quickly drowned. In heaven, he marched up to God. “I had faith in you,” he said. “I prayed for you to save me and you did nothing. Why?” God looked puzzled. “I sent two boats and a helicopter. What more did you expect?”
Living Stewardship Now

“No, tengo fe y Dios me salvará”. “No, tengo fe y Dios me salvará”.
