• Consider offering a special low price, or a special free gift with a subscription, only during October.

Attracting the last minute shoppers

• The last minute Christmas shopper is generally less concerned about price, but they do make quick

decisions, so make sure your magazine stands out from the crowd by taking advantage of our special

promotional banner ads or top title slots (see page 11), or by offering something like a unique free gift.

Free gifts help you stand out

• If you’re not already considering offer a freebie, do you have old stock sitting around which could be used at

Christmas? If required, magazine.co.uk can work with stock volumes of just 50.

What makes a strong Christmas gift offer?

The price point matters...

• £29.95 is more attractive than £31.54, £19.99 will generate more subscriptions than £21.17.

• Try to keep your gift subscription price under a round number or a five pound price point.

... and the price matters

• It may be obvious, but gift subscriptions under £20 and under £30 sell in higher volumes than those at £40 or £50.

• If you have a high annual subscription price, consider an odd term length for Christmas gift subscriptions

i.e. 9 issues for £19.99, as well as your annual gift subscription offer.

Gift-givers don't generally like paying by direct debit

• Offer gift subscriptions via credit/debit card (as well as on direct debit).

November – Boosting subscription volumes

Throughout November, magazine.co.uk will be running several marketing campaigns to incentivise visitors to buy multiple subscriptions for all their friends and family as Christmas gifts. For example:

o Buy 3 or more gift subscriptions and you (the customer) get a free subscription - multiple gift purchasers will be emailed an exclusive voucher code, post-purchase, so they can buy a subscription through magazine.co.uk up to the value of £25.

Any discounts, vouchers and free subscriptions will be funded by magazine.co.uk. Make sure your title is one that magazine.co.uk customers include in their multiple orders by showcasing your brand through a promotional banner ad or top title position slot (see page 11).

December – Attracting the last minute shoppers

In the run up to Christmas, we will be significantly boosting the volume of all magazine.co.uk promotional activities.

We will also run targeted, focused marketing campaigns such as:

o Gifts under £20 o Gift subscriptions with free gifts o Daily deals o Short term weekend only offers

If you decide to run any special last minute subscription offers which you want magazine.co.uk to promote in December, please ensure details are with us by Friday 15th November.

Banner ads - £350 per category

• There is only ONE banner ad slot available per category.

• Banner ads will launch on 14th October and run through till Christmas.

• Bookings will be taken on first come first served basis.

• The one off £350 fee will include all creative.

• Creative will follow the above design template, using your magazine cover and up

to 45 characters of text.

• Any subscription sales generated will still be charged at the existing agreed CPA.

Top title positions – from £40 per month

There are 4 top title position slots available per category.

The costs to be featured as a top title are:

October - £40

November - £50

December - £60

All 3 months - £150

Bookings will be taken on first come first served basis.

No creative is required. Your magazine (cover and subscription price) will

simply be listed as one of the top 4 for the period of time you book for.

Any subscription sales generated will still be charged at the existing agreed CPA.

What you need to send us by Friday 13th September 1. Your Christmas gift subscription offers and prices (please use the fulfilment form supplied).

• Ensure you include any ‘early bird’ offers for October and any ‘last minute’ special offers for December.

2. Details of any free gifts you are offering with your Christmas gift subscriptions.

• Please supply a short descriptive copy about the free gift (and its value in £) and an image (.jpg) if possible.

3. Specific fulfilment codes you want us to use (please add to the fulfilment form alongside the relevant offers).

4. Any new front cover images you want us to use on the site (please supply as .jpgs).

5. Your completed booking forms for (please use the forms supplied).

Key deadlines

Fri 13th September Supply details of your Christmas gift subscriptions prices, free gifts and front cover

images - and it’s the final deadline for booking forms for banner ads, and for top title

positions for the October slots (but remember all bookings will be taken on a first

come first served basis).

Fri 18th October Final deadline for sending in booking forms for top title positions for the November

slots.

Fri 15th November Supply details of any special last minute Christmas gift offers to promote in

December - and the final deadline for booking forms for top title positions for the

December slots.
