Lord lack no blessing.Lord lack no blessing.Lord lack no blessing.Lord lack no blessing.
Today we hear about how Jesus, continuing on his journey to Jerusalem, heals 10 lepers. This story is a lesson about faith and
reminds us that faith is sometimes found in unlikely places. Ten people afflicted with leprosy cry out to Jesus. Struck with pity, Jesus heals all 10. However, only one is described as glorifying God and returning to thank Jesus. The one who returns is a Samaritan, a foreigner. In the
Jewish circles in which Jesus lived, Samaritans were looked down upon because of the differences between the two communities in their observance of Judaism. It is significant, therefore, that Jesus
commends the Samaritan for his faith, which has been his salvation. Throughout Luke's Gospel, faith is found in surprising places. Another lesson for us in this Gospel has to do with salvation.
All 10 of the lepers were given the gift of healing, but in his gratitude to God for this gift, the Samaritan found salvation. Our salvation
is found in recognizing the gifts we have been given and knowing to whom we must offer our thanks.

ARMSTRONG COUNTY DIOCESAN DAY OF MERCY
A diocesan-organized Day of Mercy will be held in Armstrong County October 22. The Day of Mercy — the final of four that will be held during the Jubilee Year of Mercy — is designed to
encourage participants to gather in prayer, serve others by engaging in a corporal or spiritual work of mercy, then celebrate Mass and have a light dinner with Bishop Edward C. Malesic.
The Mass will be October 22nd at 5 PM at Christ Prince of Peace Parish, Ford City, one of the designated Year of Mercy Pilgrimage Churches in the diocese. Dinner will follow in the Divine Redeemer School Cafeteria. Participants are asked to
identify and then engage in a work of mercy or service project.
The diocese has identified a few unique service projects to be
held October 22. Multiple volunteers are needed. Please check the diocesan website for a listing of agencies accepting volunteers
on October 22nd and the need of each agency.
YOU MUST REGISTER for the Day of Mercy by visiting www.dioceseofgreensburg.org and link into the rotating panel or search for “Days of Mercy,” or call 724-837-0901, ext. 1244.
The registration deadline is October 17th.
