PROCESSIONAL HYMN Praise to the Lord Verse 1: Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation! O my soul, praise him, for he is your health and salvation! Come, all who hear: Now to his altar draw near, Joining in glad adoration!

Verse 2: Praise to the Lord, above all things so wondrously reigning, Shelt’ring you under his wings, and so gently sustaining. Have you not seen All that is needful has been Sent by his gracious ordaining?

GLORY TO GOD

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father.

Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.

For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM

R. For ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord. The promises of the LORD I will sing forever, through all generations my mouth shall proclaim your faithfulness. For you have said, “My kindness is established forever;” in heaven you have confirmed your faithfulness. R. For ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord. Blessed the people who know the joyful shout; in the light of your countenance, O LORD, they walk. At your name they rejoice all the day, and through your justice they are exalted. R. For ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord. You are the splendor of their strength, and by your favor our horn is exalted. For to the LORD belongs our shield, and the Holy One of Israel, our king. R. For ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.

WORSHIP AID

FIRST READING - 2 Kings 4:8-11, 14-16a

One day Elisha came to Shunem, where there was a woman of influence, who urged him to dine with her. Afterward, whenever he passed by, he used to stop there to dine. So she said to her husband, “I know that Elisha is a holy man of God. Since he visits us often, let us arrange a little room on the roof and furnish it for him with a bed, table, chair, and lamp, so that when he comes to us he can stay there.” Sometime later Elisha arrived and stayed in the room overnight.

Later Elisha asked, “Can something be done for her?” His servant Gehazi answered, “Yes! She has no son, and her husband is getting on in years.” Elisha said, “Call her.” When the woman had been called and stood at the door, Elisha promised, “This time next year you will be fondling a baby son.” R. Thanks be to God.

NICENE CREED

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

RECESSIONAL The Church’s One Foundation

Music reprinted with permission under OneLicense. License #A-727125

Verse 1: The Church’s one foundation Is Jesus Christ her Lord; She is his new creation By water and the word: From heav’n he came and sought her To be his holy bride; With his own blood he bought her And for her life he died.

Verse 2: Elect from ev’ry nation, Yet one o’er all the earth, Her charter of salvation, “One Lord, one faith, one birth!” One holy Name she blesses, Partakes one holy food, And to one hope she presses With ev’ry grace endued.

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION

SECOND READING—Romans 6:3-4, 8-11

Brothers and sisters: Are you unaware that we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were indeed buried with him through baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might live in newness of life.

If, then, we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him. We know that Christ, raised from the dead, dies no more; death no longer has power over him. As to his death, he died to sin once and for all; as to his life, he lives for God. Consequently, you too must think of yourselves as dead to sin and living for God in Christ Jesus. R. Thanks be to God.

GOSPEL - Matthew 10:36-42

Jesus said to his apostles: “Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever does not take up his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

"Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me. Whoever receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever receives a righteous man because he is a righteous man will receive a righteous man’s reward. And whoever gives only a cup of cold water to one of these little ones to drink because the little one is a disciple—amen, I say to you, he will surely not lose his reward.” R. Praise to you Lord, Jesus Christ

THIRTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME JUNE 28, 2020

Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Matthew 10:37-42 In this Gospel reading we see once again the mystery of

the unity of all the holy ones in Christ. As noted last

week, in chapter 10 of Matthew Jesus is bestowing a

share in his own authority upon the Apostles as they are

sent out. They are warned that the preaching of the

truth will evoke a division between those who accept the

truth and those who won’t. He promises to those who aid

them in their mission a share in the reward of the

missionary. And that is because those whom Christ

sends bear him mysteriously within themselves such

that to welcome them is to welcome him. St. Luke gives

us a parallel text, “He who hears you hears me, and he

who rejects you rejects me, and he who rejects me rejects

him who sent me” (Luke 10:16). To reject the Apostle is

to reject both the Son and the Father! That is the sad

state of those who refuse the truth and end up on the

wrong side of the division that the Divine Truth

introduces among men. But those who hear the truth

and aid those who preach it, in even the smallest ways,

will have their reward, too. As we see in this text, even a

little water is a great gift when the cause for which it is

given is that of the Son’s own mission of love from the

Father. In this great cause, we must value nothing more

than that cause itself.

Knights of Columbus Council No. 17178 ( Ford City and

Cadogan) and Knights of Columbus Council No. 1011 (Kittanning) who helped to purchase an ultrasound machine for Life Choices Center in Kittanning. Life Choices local office is located at the Frank Village Mall, in East Franklin Township. The Knights of Columbus Councils in Ford City, Cadogan and Kittanning needed to raise 50 percent of the cost of the ultrasound machine then the Knights of Columbus Supreme Council, located New Haven, Conn. would provide the remaining 50 percent. This was done through a variety of events, such as community dances, raffles and golf tournaments. This ultrasound machine will be used by Life Choices to have women see and hear their unborn babies in utero. Life Choices provides women the option to keep their babies, rather than have an abortion, by providing support, both in financial and resources, for up to the first five years of a baby’s life. Bishop Malesic will be coming up to bless the new ultrasound machine at the Life Choices Office on June 30 at 2:00 PM.

God bless you for your generosity!
