Light the Night with Jesus

Does it feel dark inside your heart? Do you feel all alone?

There is someone who waits and wants To make your heart his home.

The darkness that you feel inside

Is sin that lives in you. You cannot make it go away: There’s nothing you can do.

But, Jesus is the Light of God That makes the darkness flee. He died to take your sin away.

He rose to set you free.

Now do you want the Light of God To live inside of you?

And would you like to shine like him In everything you do?

Through faith believe what he has done.

Receive his gift for you. He’ll come into your heart today And make your life brand new.

You were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord.

Walk as children of light. ~Ephesians 5:8

We will seek God’s will, share God’s love, and serve as Christ’s people.

Mission Outreach Report: Amanda will help with Sunday School. Sharon will get buns, tablecloths, plates. Laurie got the rings. Picking up take out boxes. We will have bean bags, ring toss. Post Rally—Sunday School Christmas Eve Bags with Stewardship Board. Christmas Joy Boxes with the Catholics. Noisy Sunday—Global Mission—last Sunday. Parish Ed Report: Since Parish Ed committee has had several resignations and believe as a Mission Outreach member, I could fill in for this committee. Been working to plan Sunday School on September 12th Rally Sunday. I am excited to say that Amanda from Shetek Bi-ble Camp will be here to help us with this. There are several members have state they are willing t o help with Sunday School but do not wish to be in charge. So, at this time we plan to see how many children are here for Rally Sunday and what ages we have. We plan to meet as group to move forward with the mate-rials that we have. Would like to meet on a monthly basis and set up curriculum we have for the month. Lila has said she would help with Music so at some point I am hoping we can have kids sing at church. I am going to do Children’s sermon on Rally Sun-day and would like to try and have this as often as we can. There is a lot of ideas online. It does not havet o be one person to do it if you would want to team up that would be great. Sharon Staples, Mission Outreach / Parish Ed WCLC Report: Quilters reported a good turnout for quilting days. From January through July, 82 quilts have been donated to various or-ganizations. Cards have been sent for September. Our Son-shine Garden was held in August. Colleen Gengler was the speaker. She shared her gardening experiences and answered our questions on gardening. Rootbeer floats were served. About 20 giftbags for shut ins were put together. Cook book sales are going strong. Booth at the fair sold over 70 cookbooks. Have gotten all expenses of publication paid up already from sales. Amy New and Carolyn Gillette resigned their positions on the WCLC Board and from Love Circle. They were accepted with regrets. Cindi Pavlis will be the card chairperson—Irene Moline has resigned from doing that. Shetek Conference Women’s Gathering, Shetek Lutheran Ministries, September 18.

Christ Lutheran is starting a book club!

Starting in October, we'll explore theology and healing through the written word. Begin now to look for your favor-ite book suggestions and we'll gather monthly to talk and share. Our first book to read and discuss will be “Be De-termined (Nehemiah)" by Warren W. Wiersbe. Books are available in the church office, so you can read and come prepared to discuss it in October. Watch for more details on an October date for our first book club meeting. All are welcome, bring a friend!

The Funeral Lunch Policy has changed

Totzke’s funeral home will make arrangements for a ca-tered meal. Christ Lutheran is providing help as hostess and minimal clean up. Copies of the new procedure can be found in the kitchen.

Christ Lutheran Cookbooks For Sale

Take home a collection of treasured recipes from Christ Lutheran’s many outstanding cooks! These make a great gift. They can be purchased at The Hut, Left Bank Café, Shear Design and The Style Shoppe. $10 each. Proceeds from the cookbooks will benefit various mission projects.

Concrete Work

Property & Management has begun a fund for replacing concrete around the church. The first piece to be replaced will be in front of the west entry, for safety reasons since this is our handicapped entrance. If you’d like to give to this fund, please put “Concrete” in the memo or there is a concrete fund online.

Christ Lutheran Sunday School NEWS

We have a great start to new year of Sunday School. The class began with music, Lila Anderson is our teacher. Lila began by introducing the children to the bells. The children were quite enthusiastic as they learned to play Jesus Loves Me. Everyone was so pleased as we began to hear our fa-vorite tune in a new way. Next week October 3, Lila will be mixing up by teaching the children to use percussion instru-ments.

Our lesson for September 26 was Jonah and the Big Fish. The guest reader for the day was Greg Moberg. On Octo-ber 3 Curt Jensen is reading a lesson on Creation from the Spark Story Bible. Each week we will be asking a member of the congregation to read the Bible stories to our students. This will give us a variety of voices to tell our familiar Bible stories. If you would like to be a guest reader please call the office and let Dawn know. If you would like to be a read-er, you will be provided materials and only take about 15 to 20 minutes during Sunday School.

The class will include variations of worksheet and crafts to help reinforce the point of our Bible story and the lesson to be learned. Jean Sagmoe will be teaching crafts and art projects. Lorna Bader will also be teaching.

All children are welcome! Parents are welcome. Bring a guest, invite someone! Sunday School

starts at 9:00 AM ending about 9:50.

Footprints in the Sand

One night I had a dream... I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord,

and across the sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in the

sand; One belonged to me, and the other to the Lord.

When the last scene of my life flashed before us, I looked back at the footprints in the sand.

I noticed that many times along the path of my life, There was only one set of footprints.

I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in my life

This really bothered me, and I questioned the Lord about it.

"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, You would walk with me all the way;

But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life,

There is only one set of foot-prints.

I don't understand why in times when I needed you the most, you

should leave me. The Lord replied, "My precious, precious child. I love you, and I would never, never leave you during your times of trial and

suffering.

When you saw only one set of footprints, It was then that I car-

ried you."
