international markets. I started my career as a graduate trainee in marketing at Unilever before moving into various brand management roles. My marketing and brand experience was gained primarily in Unilever, Reckitt Benckiser, PepsiCo and ABF, as well as a couple of smaller privately owned entrepreneurial businesses. In the 10 years before Clarks (2002-2012) I held various Marketing Director roles. I am married, I have two daughters and live in a small village just outside Bath. In my spare time, like lots of MAMILs, I enjoy getting out on my road bike.

Jon Brown joined the NSPCC as Head of Strategy and Development in 2010 where he is responsible for service, policy and research design and strategy for the organisation’s work in the areas of sexual abuse and disabled children (two of seven distinct themes prioritised by the NSPCC). Jon joined the NSPCC from Action for Children where he was Operational Director of Children's Services. He gained a Masters in Social Policy and his Social Work training at the London School of Economics, which followed a First Class degree from Middlesex University.

Innovation NSPCC Services to Increase Public Engagement

The NSPCC is a major provider of sexual abuse services in the UK. Recent years have seen a significant increase in the level of public awareness and concern about child sexual abuse and this has presented us with the opportunity to engage more directly with local communities to transform this concern into positive action. This talk will give an overview of our strategy and how it is responding and innovating in response to what we have learned from our service delivery and to increased public concerns as a result of recent events; it will ultimately be better aware and informed communities that will reduce levels of child sexual abuse in the UK.

Local Relevance is the Key to Global Success.

The internet has made it possible now for all companies to have global aspirations regardless of their size. Many companies fall into the trap of focusing solely on how they can scale their business as they expand. It is equally critical however to ensure that they remain in touch with their users and be locally relevant in each country, city, and neighbourhood. This talk will examine how local insight and true understanding of the culture and motivations of people, is what sets the best companies apart. It will also analyse how the internet enables companies to develop truly local strategies and customer propositions.

David Benson Director, Sales & Strategy Google

I joined BBC Worldwide in June 2014 to head up strategy for BBC Worldwide across Global Markets – essentially, the non–English speaking world. As digital and mobile technologies transform the way people all over the world both consume and value content, there’s never been a more interesting time to work in this industry, and I am passionate about the growth opportunities for the BBC in

these markets. My background is as an advertising planner: I was Chief Strategy Officer of RKCR/Y&R, the UK’s third largest advertising agency, where I led strategy on some of the UK’s best loved global brands – including M&S, Virgin Atlantic, Land Rover, Oxfam, and BBC (public service). Ad agencies are by necessity incubators for creativity – natural collaborative spaces – and I believe in the value of applying creative development principles to business development.
