Have you always wanted to visit Washington D.C. during one of its most beautiful times of year? Join us as we take in all it has to offer during this very active tour! Day 1, Thurs. April 8.… Meet your guides at the Des Moines Airport. Fly out of Des Moines to Reagan National Airport . Enjoy our bus transfer to our hotel in Alexandria VA. Evening free to explore Old Town Alexandria. Day 2, Fri. April 9.… Friday, April 9 After breakfast the bus will take us to Arlington National Cemetery where we will watch the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. A short bus ride to the Jefferson Memorial and from here we will walk to all the major monuments on the National Mall. During our leisurely stroll we will see the FDR Memorial, Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, Korean War Memorial, climb up the 58 steps of the Lincoln Memorial, check out the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, the WWII Memorial and the Washington Monument. As we leave the National Mall we will walk to the White House and Lafayette Park. Bus will pick us up and return us to our hotel. Evening free to check out the many restaurants and sights in Old Town Alexandria. (B) Day 3, Sat. April 10.… After breakfast the bus will take us back into Washington D.C.. We will start with a group tour of the Holocaust Museum. Because there are so many different choices of museums, art galleries etc. to visit on the National Mall you will have free time to pick and choose which ones you want to visit. Paula & Suzanne will be available to offer suggestions and assistance as needed. Later that afternoon we will meet up for a group tour of the Capitol and then meet the bus for our trip back to the hotel. Evening free in Alexandria. (B) Day 4, Sun. April 11.… Sunday, April 11 We will have a later start today to allow for those who wish to attend early Sunday Church services. Breakfast at your leisure. Bus trip to Mount Vernon for tour and lunch. Evening free in Alexandria, perhaps you might like to take a Potomac River Cruise (on your own). (B, L) Day 5, Mon. April 12.… Monday, April 12. After breakfast the bus will take us to the airport for our flight back to Des Moines.
