• Wilbur heard a voice and the voice said, "Salutations!" At first he didn’t know who said it. Then he saw a large grey spider waving at him. It was Charlotte.

• It was summer and school was out for Fern and Avery. The goslings were hatching.

• Wilbur found out that he was going to be killed at Christmas. Charlotte calmed him down and tells him she would save him.
