Pumpkin Patch DownloadScheduled. All Are Welcome! For the fifth year, pumpkins will soon litter the west lawn at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Centennial. All are wel-come to help with the offload pumpkins on October 11, 2014. Don’t miss an opportunity to foster new relationships with other Episcopalians and the community, and have fun with old friends as Good Shepherd parishioners prepare to reach out to the com-munity through the pumpkin patch. Join the merriment at 8:30 a.m. Helpers can attend a short service held on the patio to bless the Pumpkin Patch and its commitment to Outreach Partners who serve the hungry and homeless. Then at 9:00, workers will begin to unload a semi-truck full of pumpkins in fire brigade fashion. About 11:00, join everyone to eat a chili lunch after the work of offloading hundreds of pumpkins. Mark your calendars to join the festivities October 11, 2014. The Patch, now five years old, became a Jubilee Ministry for the work being done for Outreach and Social Action. It also is a suggested activity on the website kidsoutandabout.com. Find the patch’s latest information on either Facebook (Pumpkin Patch of Centennial) or the patch website pumpkinpatchofcentennial.com. It is a good idea to check the website for possible schedule changes due to weather or delivery glitches. All are welcome to participate in this joyful work for the Lord on October 11, 2014 at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church 8545 East Dry Creek Road, Centennial, Colorado.

Chapparal Homeowners Association MeetingAugust 11, 2014 The following homeowners were in attendance: Mary Ann Neumann, Doug MacCarthy, Rick Poppe, Doyle Tonkey, Kent Sellers, Eric Maurice, Don Ewigleben, Wayne Lauer, Sue Brunk along with board members Jim Harrington, Pam Daiss-Sitzmann, Adam Carmel, Ken Brunk and Rolayne Sellers. President Harrington called the meeting to order, introductions were made, the agenda reviewed and brief president comments were made. He discussed Chapparal community pride and the desire to have each homeowner maintain their properties to a high standard. There is concern about the number of dead trees in the neighborhood. The suggestion to contact a tree service to see about getting a bulk discount for cutting down trees was made. Pam Daiss-Sitzmann will call different providers to see what arrangements can be made. Adam Carmel shared many action items in his treasurer’s report. We now have the financial review from Source One of the records for 2011 to 2013. Full disclosure is available for anyone interested. The 2013 report will be posted on our website. Adam will file the necessary taxes for an HOA this week. We also had some discussion about the HOA money and the multiple accounts where it is held or invested. Adam may be looking for ways to get higher yield with an 18 month certificate of deposit. Waste Management is our big-gest financial operation. Adam will be the point of contact for our neighborhood. He will talk to all new homeowners to explain how to be a part of the trash/recycling contract. Our neighborhood has recycling on the 2nd and 4th weeks of the month. Adam will work

to get all Waste Management information on our website. The contracts for the D&O insurance were renewed. Dan Hartman will make recommendations about changing the internet provider in the future. Thanks to Kent Sellers for helping with our Clean-up days on June 28th and 29th. Twenty seven homeowners used the dumpsters at the pool. Look for them again on Saturday, October 4th with overflow on Sunday, October 5th if there is still space. We also had a crew clean the common areas. The 4th of July party was considered a success. Thanks to Rolayne Sellers for being the chair; Mary Ann Neumann for coordinating and buying all the food; Wayne Lauer for cooking; David Fletcher for arranging the fire truck and parade; Dan Hartman for the eblasts and sign up genius; Pam Daiss-Sitzmann for making signs at the entries; Adam Carmel for being the emcee for the whole event; Lina Sachs, Kathy Emmons, Pam & Doug Sitzmann, Kent & Rolayne Sellers and Laura for the set up and decorating. Thanks to everyone who brought salads, desserts, chips, and drinks. There were many supplies left from the previous years for the games and decorations and so the budget for the event was just under $500.00. We had some discussion about ideas for

next year. We want to keep this activity to encourage a sense of community. We will also work on making sure all the Chapparal events are posted on the website. The communications committee is working on ideas for our newsletter. They will present ideas about how we can communicate with the neighborhood at our September meeting. We had some discussion about putting together a new neighborhood survey to go out in October for us to use in preparing the 2015 budget. Dan Ewigleben will help with this survey. Pam Daiss-Sitzmann will give us any legal updates if needed. We are now working with Cavanaugh and no retainer is needed. Wayne Lauer reported for the Architectural Control Committee. Homeowners have responded to letters of concern. The committee is follow-ing the guidelines in the community covenants, and will base any decisions on those documents. We will have more discussion about this in our September 2014 meeting. The Chapparal Metro Board report was from Jim Neumann via Mary Ann. Metal edging is around the pool because some bushes were removed. Stone edging will replace it soon. There was a discussion about how the codes are working at the pool and tennis courts and the hours these are working. Ken Brunk and Doyle Tinkey are working on the street light situation. We do not pay for the lighting, it comes through IREA. There could be an engineering study about moving, adding and changing lights. CMD doesn’t think this is their responsibility, neither does CenCom. Ken will get information about the study and report back to us. There is a new HOA mailbox that we will use for all HOA business. The address is 7092 S. Chapparal Circle East. For new business Adam reported that the first draft of the 2015 budget will be presented in October to adopt in the November meeting. Public comments were concerning renters in Chapparal and how we can work with them. The meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m.

National Sewing Month A time to indulge your passion for sewing, and also the perfect opportunity to introduce yourself to the craft of sewing and embroidery if you’ve never tried it before.
