OBJECT OF THE WARRANTY Top Telha tiles are manufactured under the strictest quality standards. They fully comply with ABNT NBR 15310 standard and are object of this warranty for the period of 60 years from the date of purchase. The quality characteristics are: SOUND: the tile should produce a metallic-like sound, when suspended by an edge and hit. VISUAL CHARACTERISTICS: the tile may evidence such signs as: abrasions, cracks, chippings and burrs which do not damage its performance; likewise, potential scratches, scuffs and scrapes are admissible, which may be caused by friction produced on the files during their manufacture, packaging, maintenance or transportation. WATER RESISTANCE: when subject to water resistance testing, the tile should not show signs of leaking or drop creation on its underside. However, moisture marks are tolerated. DETERMINATION OF MASS: the mass of the dry tile should not be higher than 6% of the value declared in the project of the tile model. FLEXURAL RESISTANCE: the flexural breaking loads should not be less than 130Kgf. WATER ABSORPTION: the maximum permissible limit is 20%. MEASUREMENTS: the permissible measurements tolerance is ± 2.0% for the measurements: manufacturing width, manufacturing length and pin position or binding hole. The pin should have the minimum height of 7mm for pressed tiles and 3mm for extruded tiles. RECTILINEARITY AND PLANARITY: the recti linearity value should not be higher than 1% of the effective length; the planarity value should not be higher than 5mm. TECHNICAL INFORMATION 1. TRANSPORTATION AND INSPECTION We request to inspect the purchase tiles right after the installation of the first 300 to 500 units, and to check for any possible non-conformity related to the object of this warranty. In case of doubt, immediately contact the product’s retailer store in order to get a preliminary service. The compliance with this remark is paramount because the labor cost resulting from the non-compliance with this item, shall be the sole responsibility of the client. Any breaks caused during transportation are the sole responsibility of the tile’s carrier. 2. STORAGE In case prolonged storage, your storage unit should be protected against moisture, contact with soil, vegetation, substrate which contains organic matter or any type of material that may stain or damage the product. 3. CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CERAMIC TILES After the first rains, it’s normal that the tile shows signs of moisture on its underside. The current technology used for the manufacture creates tiles with low water absorption and low permeability, whose parameters are clearly expressed in the ABNT’s technical standards. However, while complying with the standards’ parameters, the accumulation of organic matter on its surface is inevitable, fostering the appearance of fungi, which are characterized by a light green coloration, or, in advanced stages, by the darkening of the surface. This phenomenon depends from the moisture of the location, the degree of sun exposure and win and accumulated dirtiness. The only way to minimize the incrustations is by executing regular cleaning operations. The tonality variations are inherent to the ceramic process. The ceramic tiles may show, on their underside, stains (efflorescence) which do not affect their functional characteristics. For silicone tiles we recommend the washing and the use of water repellents, at least once a year. For natural tiles it is advisable the use of silicone products. A compound (engobe) is applied to engobed tiles (colored), only on the tiles upper side. Superficial marks on the engobed tiles are inherent to the manufacturing process. 4. INCLINATION The minimum permissible inclinations depend from the length of the rood and are mentioned below. For lengths from 0 to 3 meters, the minimum inclination is 30%. To each extra meter it should be added 2% to the inclination value for a perfect sealing of the roof and so that an earlier greening does not occur. For inclinations higher than 100%, all tiles should be fixed. For inclinations between 45% and 100%, please check the specific table in the website www.toptelha.com.br or check with the technical assistance service. Permissible maximum inclination 173% (60°). Maximum length of 10m of the side of the roof. If higher than 10m, please check with the technical department of the company. For the execution of flexural roofs, the inclination of 30% in the first meter should be respected, this respecting the minimum camber table for the rest of the length of the roof. 5. SPACING Check the spacing of a minimum average of 6 tiles of the batch delivered on site. The first measurement should be made considering the minimum distance between tiles (W min), that corresponds to the average of the first or sixth support, in other words, 5 beams. Readjust the supports considering the maximum distance between tiles (W max) and perform the second measurement. Use the average of both measurements in accordance with the picture. The first lath should be a double one, so that to keep the inclination of the roof. 6. ROOF TILE INSTALLATION SEQUENCE The tiles must be installed with a slight angle of inclination. For a correct alignment, please check if the two tile pins are inserted on the lath. The alignment should be made with a line or ruler. 7. RIDGE INSTALLATION A previous planning should be made for the installation of the ridge, in order to avoid cuts and to achieve the best aesthetic finish. It is very important that the mortar used for the plaster is protected by the ridge, and therefore not exposed to weather conditions. 8. VENTILATION TILE The Top Telha ventilation tile was developed to neutralize the effect of daily temperature variations. They allow the creation of an airstream below the roof and the consequent removal of hot air, thus avoiding the condensation of water vapor under the tiles and its effects, such as the deterioration of wood. In order for the system that uses ventilation tiles to work, it is necessary that there are at least 2 ventilation tiles next to the eave and 1 ventilation tile next to the ridge line for each 10m2 of roof. 9. ROOF MAINTENANCE After rains with strong winds, hail or any type of weather phenomena that might affect the roof, please perform an inspection to detect any damages. During the roof inspection, you should walk on wood planks to avoid cracks and to ensure the safety of the installer. The cleaning process should be performed at least once a year. Moreover, an inspection to the roof support structure, gutters and for possible leakages should be performed. 10. GENERAL INFORMATION The manufacturer reserves the right to change the general, technical and aesthetical characteristics of its products without prior notice. This provision does not infringe nor does restrict the consumer protection code. The Top Telha warranty is a public commitment and is registered in the office of deeds and documents of the district of Leme/SP . For the resinated tiles, the warranty is only applicable to the ceramic product, because depending of the region where the tiles were installed, they may need and more frequent washing and reinstallation. The warranty request should be made in written within 30 days after the occurrence of problems related to the product, and directly submitted to the representative of this certificate along with the invoice and this certificate duly completed. 11. SAFETY INFORMATION To avoid unroofing and risks of accidents, we advise you to fix all the tiles to the roof structure. The roof installation and repair works should only be performed by a qualified professional. Please respect and comply with the Regulatory Standards of the Ministry or Labor for roof works. 12. MANUFACTURER’S LIABILITY If any non-conformities are detected on the product which are covered by this WARRANTY CERTIFICATE, the manufacturer undertakes to: • Carry out the reinstallation of tiles covered by the warranty, exempt of charges to the buyer, as long as the buyer submits this WARRANTY CERTIFICATE duly completed; • In case the tiles are no longer included in the Top Telha’s line of products, the reinstallation shall be made with a similar product; • Make available the technical information for instructions of use; • The liability is limited to the value of the products manufactured by said company. 13. ITEMS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY • Damages caused by the improper installation, storage and use of the product, in accordance with the above instructions; • Improper installation not following the minimum inclination, the alignments and recommended overlapping; • Labor cost for the installation of tiles and other materials related to the roof; Top Telha is not liable for roofs where accessories not manufactured by us were used, for instance, the ridge; • Color changes or changes in the look of the tiles, caused by fungi, algae, efflorescence and pollution, including greening and darkening of the surface of the tiles; • Non-compliance with the recommendations/precautions described in the technical information.
