GUNKUL is expanding beyond just offering 5,000 types of electrical equipment to
becoming a key power producer from solar energy. One of Gunkul’s Solar Power Plants is
located at Dong-Khon, Sankhaburi, Chainat province with the capacity of 6.5MW spread
over 128,000s.q.m. (80 Rais). The advance technology used are 290W Poly-Crystalline
Modules and 500kVA Central Inverters. The designed monitoring system allows the plant
operation to be accessed globally via internet. The plant generates more than 12 million
units per year and 8 baht adder for that 10 years with 13 years tax exemption as subsidy
from the Government. A key highlight is that there is no CO2 emission during operation.
Dan Chang Bio-Energy Co., Ltd. is an affi liate of Mitr Phol Group, located at Dan Chang,
Suphanburi Province in the western part of central Thailand. Located next to a Mitr Phol
sugar mill, the power plant utilizes bagasse, a byproduct from the sugar mill, to produce
and supply steam along with electrical power. The excess power is exported to the national
grid. It started operation in 2004 as the fi rst biomass power plant of Mitr Phol Group
which has a fi rm power purchase agreement with Electricity Generating Authority of
Thailand (EGAT). Dan Chang Power Plant purchases other agricultural waste from farmers
in order to increase the surrounding community’s income and reduce the burning rate
of waste. The boilers at Dan Chang Power Plant were specifi cally designed for biomass
fuel, equipped with vibration hydro-grate stoker and travelling grate stoker. Currently, Dan
Chang Power Plant exports 55MW of power to the national grid and as a result, it saves
up to 100 million liters of oil used for power generation there by reducing the emission of
greenhouse gas up to 250,000 ton CO2 equivalent.
The promotion of renewable energy and energy effi ciency is a cornerstone in Thailand’s energy climate. Meet and
consult with respective renewable energy industry experts to discuss project management, visualizations, planning, due
diligence, resource assessment, feasibility studies and post-planning of RE and EE projects
New this year are technical plant visits organized by the Renewable Energy Industry Club, the Federation of Thai Industries
alongside CEEA on the 15th September. The visits will allow participants to obtain fi rst-hand insights on existing clean energy
facilities that are part of Thailand’s 15-Year Renewable Energy Development Plan, which aims to increase renewable energy
consumption to 20.3 per cent of the country’s total energy consumption by 2022.
Do not miss out on the opportunity to visit the innovative Gunkul Solar Power Plant and Dan-Chang Bio-Energy Power Plant!
