I specialize in single-family homes. I LOVE working with � rst time buyers. I work with many empty nesters, their chil-dren and their grand chil-dren. I enjoy every facet

of the business; consequently, I try to limit the number of transactions I take on.

What is the most challenging part of what you do?When there are multiple o� ers on a property and my cli-

ent doesn’t get the home of their choice and when the mort-gage company comes up with a new request the day before closing.

What do you most enjoy doing when you’re not working?Playing with our Labradoodle. We never miss a

Bronco Home game. I’ve taught a Roller Skating Class for over 30 years. I ballroom dance twice a week.

What is one tip you have for someone looking to sell a house?

Get rid of the clutter and clean, clean, clean.

What is one tip you have for someone looking to buy a house?

Don’t buy on impulse. Make yourself take the time to con-sider all aspects of the purchase.

How long have you worked in Real Estate?I have been in the real estate industry in

various roles since 1999, but have been a practicing broker since 2004. Since that time, I have built � e Steller Group within Keller Williams Realty, a team of talented individuals who o� er nearly 50 years of combined real estate experience.

What is the most challenging part of what you do?Educating clients about the true nature of the Metro Den-

ver real estate market. � e national news portrays doom and gloom when it comes to selling a home, but

the truth is that our market is stable and im-proving. Homes in good condition that are priced correctly are going under contract in just days of being listed; sellers need to know that just because they read about foreclosures in the news, doesn’t mean that they are as rampant as indicated. Centennial is doing especially well. Re-cent rankings such as being listed as one of

Money Magazine’s Top 50 Best Places to Live increase aware-ness about what a desirable community Centennial is, and ultimately increase buyer demand.

What do you most enjoy doing when you’re not working?I love spending down time with my wife and three children.

Much of our family live nearby, so big family gatherings are also a regular part of our lives. We just completed remodeling our 1968 home, so now that I’ll have more free time I look forward to returning to cycling, a long-time passion of mine.


When listing your home, it is a beauty contest. First impres-sions are made through your listing photos and buying deci-sions are then made by the presentation (i.e. staging) of your home. Do everything you can to make your home as clean, welcoming and well maintained as possible.


With inventory being down, quality homes are in high de-mand. If you are considering buying a home, make sure you are prepared to act quickly – be prequali� ed by a lender and stay on top of the market so that you can be one of the � rst to see a home of interest. Chances are, if it’s a great home, you may be in competition with other buyers, so being ready to strike � rst will give you an advantage.

What is the most unusual thing you’ve encountered while working in Real Estate?

I once “auditioned” without knowing it. I had shown a home to some clients, and several months later was con-tacted by the sellers of that property to help them buy their new home. � ey told me that they had audio recorded every agent who had done a showing, and were impressed by how I educated my clients and by my knowledge of the area. It was unexpected and unorthodox, but it did lead to a great work-ing relationship and to ultimately helping them � nd a home.

Where were you born?I was born in a small town in South Texas.

How long have you lived in the area?In 1982, I moved to Summit County, Colorado. A� er living

in Texas for 24 years, I thought I had died and gone to heaven!

What do you like most about it?From the very beginning, I enjoyed everything this

amazing state had to o� er. I have always been an out-doorsmen and was delighted when I discovered there were four real seasons! In Texas, there are only 2 sea-sons … summer and the rainy season.

How long have you worked in Real Estate?In 1985, I started a real estate company

called Colorado Real Estate Services, Inc. We were a contract-ing company servicing the mortgage industry. At our peak during the late 80’s, we had over 100 employees and sub-contractors. In 1994, I became a li-censed real estate bro-

ker and quali� ed for rookie of the year for Coldwell banker. In 1998, I joined RE/MAX Achievers, which later became RE/MAX Alliance. I attribute a great deal of our success to my af-� liation with RE/MAX.

What is your specialty and what does that mean for the peo-ple you work with?

I specialize in Douglas and Elbert county real estate. I re-ally enjoy working on deals with acreage involved because of the challenges of water rights to mineral rights and zoning to development. A� er 29 years of doing business, and over 1,500 successful closings, the learning curve is not nearly as steep as it used to be. Just about anyone can list a property, however, in today’s environment it takes a skilled and experienced Real-tor to get the transaction closed. I feel my vast experience, as

well as 1,200 hours of classroom time, gives my clients a distinct advantage.

What is the most challeng-ing part of what you do?

Buying and selling a home can be one of the

most stressful experiences in a person’s life. � is stress can

bring out the best or worst in just about anyone. I have learned by manag-

ing everyone’s expectations, the pro-cess be-

comes much more manageable. It is my job to create realistic expectations for my clients, cooperating brokers, lenders and even myself.

What do you most enjoy doing when you are not working?Spending time with family and friends. During the winter, I

love skiing, hunting and snowmobiling. During the summer, I enjoy golf, boating and 4-wheeling. All of these activities are within an hour’s drive. How cool is that?

What is one tip you have for someone looking to sell a house?Make sure you hire a quali� ed Realtor who understands

and specializes in your market place, everything from staging, proper pricing, advertising and negotiations. Hire a proven specialist.


Again, use a quali� ed Realtor that is very familiar with the area in which you are interested. A well-networked Realtor will have more than just the MLS to work with. From public trustee auctions to fellow realtor pocket listings, a buyer does not want to be limited to just the listings on MLS.


Unfortunately – some of the most unusual things are too inappropriate for print! Haha! I met the

love of my life in the course of negotiating a real estate transaction. I don’t know if that quali-� es as the most unusual, but it certainly quali� es as the most fortunate.

I like spending time with family. I enjoy British auto-mobiles and have one restored and one project car. I have shown both most recently at the Colorado Conclave which featured over 500 British vehicles. Won second place on my 1975 Jensen Healey. When not working on cars or out for a pleasure drive, I do a daily duty of feeding the wild birds. My backyard is a birding paradise plus the variety of bees is amazing.


A clean home sells best. Carpet and paint go a long way to a quick sale. Listen to your Realtor and price it right. If it is not selling make your price adjustments early on so you and your family can move.


Get yourself to a good lender and get approved. Know what you can a� ord before you go looking. Nothing is more disappointing than falling in love with a home you end up not being able to buy.


I had a buyer under contract on a HUD home. Just be-fore we were set to close, two uncleared liens showed up and HUD’s title company would not clear the liens and wanted to take the property back and remove it from the market. I had to have another title company who I do busi-

ness with work with me to � x everything so we could close. Only took an extra month but got it done.

Buyers were thrilled.
