Dear Brothers and Sisters, I am Sr. Teresa de Jesús Quintero Baena and it is a great joy to be part of this beautiful parish St. Stephen Protomartyr and to know that Christ lives and strengthens your faith in this community. With the unexpected return of Sr. Julia to her country, I was asked to take her place here and continue with the apostolic work she began with some of you. I trust that the Good Lord will give me the wisdom and humility necessary to be in your midst as a servant and from there to welcome you with my heart and to listen to you in every situation in which you believe I may be useful. Reflecting on the liturgy of this Sunday, I see that it invites us to bear witness of our faith and to be aware of our calling to live our baptism. This sacrament invites us to have a clear way of demonstrating our willingness to serve with love and selflessness to all those who are in need. We are called to be the light that illuminates this world, sometimes plunged into darkness and selfishness. Each one of us represents the presence of Christ in the different areas in which we interact, such as home, office, school, or the parish community. With this motivation of the liturgy of the word, I present to you my vocation to be an instrument of God that can help you in your spiritual growth, not forgetting that it is He, who performs the work in each one of you. Also, I want to share that during all these few days that I have been here, I notice your commitment of faith and the concern you have for increasing the fraternity among all of you, a virtue that is typical of a true believer who is transformed by the life of Christ. I am confident that God will kindle in us, the burning fire of his love and will help us in the challenges we may carry in our hearts. Through this greeting, I also want to thank you for the signs of affection you have had with Sister Adriana and me, especially in the welcoming gathering on Sunday, August 11. It was beautiful to receive your warm words and your joy, but above all that everyone expressed to me the desire for our Religious Community to continue here as a sign of the love of Christ in you. He is the one who makes us brothers and sisters to walk in this journey of fraternity to all. God bless you every moment. Sr. Teresa Quintero, SGBP

Apreciados hermanos y hermanas en Cristo que viven y fortalecen su fe en la Parroquia San Esteban

Protomártir. Soy la Hna. Teresa de Jesús Quintero Baene y para mí es

una alegría muy grande hacer parte de su linda comunidad parroquial.

Ante el inesperado regreso de Hna. Julia a su país, me fue pedido asumir su lugar aquí y continuar con la labor

apostólica que ella venía desarrollando con ustedes. Confío en que el Buen Dios me regale la sabiduría y

humildad necesarias para estar en medio de ustedes como servidora y desde allí poderles

acoger con el corazón y la escucha necesaria en cada situación en la que

crean pueda serles útil. Retomando un poco la liturgia dominical

que nos ha invitado a dar testimonio de fe y también a concientizarnos de cuan

necesario que es la vivencia del bautismo que hemos recibido, y tal una manera clara

de evidenciarlo es el estar dispuestos a servir con amor y desinterés a todos

aquellos que lo necesitan, siendo luz que ilumina este mundo, sumido en la

oscuridad y el egoísmo; donde cada uno es esa presencia de Cristo en los diferentes

espacios donde se desempeñan ya sea el hogar, la oficina, la escuela o la parroquia.

Con esta motivación me dispongo a ser para cada uno, instrumento de Dios y ayuda para su crecimiento

espiritual, no olvidándome que es él mismo quien realiza la obra en cada uno de ustedes.

Además, les comparto que durante todos estos pocos días que llevo aquí, he podido experimentar su

compromiso de fe y la preocupación que tienen por ir aumentando cada vez más la de fraternidad entre

ustedes, virtud que es propia de un verdadero creyente que transparenta la vida de Cristo.

Por lo tanto, Dios siempre hará arder en cada uno de nosotros el fuego de su amor y despejará las

inquietudes que llevamos en el corazón. A través de este medio también quiero agradecerles, las

muestras de cariño que han tenido con Hna. Adriana y conmigo, especialmente en la convivencia del día 11 de

agosto con motivo de nuestra bienvenida. Ha sido hermoso compartir su sencillez y alegría, pero

sobre todo el que cada uno haya podido con sus palabras, manifestar el deseo por que nuestra

permanencia aquí sea duradera, esto es un signo del amor de Cristo en ustedes, que nos hermana y nos lleva

a recorrer el mismo camino de fraternidad. Dios les bendiga en cada momento.

Visiting Monstrance The “Visiting Monstrance” depicted here is a visible tool of evangelization used by the Pope John Paul II Eucharistic Adoration Association to enhance devotion to the Eucharist throughout the Archdiocese of Chicago. This beautiful monstrance was taken to Rome and blessed by Holy Father John Paul II on March 2, 2005, from his room at Gemelli Hospital. He consecrated the vessel speci ically to promote Eucharistic Adoration, prayer for priests, and vocations. It was among the inal items to receive a papal blessing by John Paul II, who was called by our Lord to his inal rest one month later on April 2, 2005.

Ostensorio Visitante El "Ostensorio Visitante" representado aquı es una herramienta visible de evangelizacion utilizada por la Asociacion de Adoracion Eucarıstica del Papa Juan Pablo II, para mejorar la devocion a la Eucaristıa en toda la Arquidiocesis de Chicago. Este hermoso ostensorio fue llevado a Roma y bendecido por el Santo Padre Juan Pablo II el 2 de marzo de 2005, desde su habitacion en el Hospital Gemelli. Consagro el ostensorio especı icamente para promover la Adoracion Eucarıstica, la oracion por los sacerdotes y las vocaciones. Fue uno de los ultimos elementos para recibir una bendicion papal de Juan Pablo II, quien fue llamado por nuestro Senor a su ultimo descanso un mes mas tarde, el 2 de abril de 2005.

Fr. Michael Gaitely’s 33 Day Consecration to Morning Glory may be just what the Lord is calling you to do! A Consecration to Mary is “the quickest and surest way to heaven.” The Legion of Mary group at St. Stephen will be hosting the do-it-yourself

retreat through the book.

The Consecration begins September 5 and ends on the Feast Day of the Holy Rosary October 7th. Please email ania.rostk@gmail.com to receive a free book. Join the journey with a complementary video and discussion sessions on Tuesdays.
