What in the world is .1kba? Correct answer: The name of the new worship drama team! .1kba stands for Period One Kids Bible Act, and the group meets on Sundays after children’s choir in the upstairs classroom in the preschool building. Adults are welcome to join (but will be required to complete background checks!) Questions? Check with the “consultants” Beth Posey and Tariq Gardner (bposey@comcast.net) New actors (and directors, and set designers, and makeup artists, and costume creators, and prop handlers) are welcome!

Church Bazaar—October 22 Donations and Volunteers Welcome! We are getting ready for our fall bazaar which will be Saturday, October 22 from 10am to 2pm. Plan on attending… and helping out. To help out, you can:

1. donate your treasures before October 20—there is a collection area in the front end of Memorial Hall (under the narthex) where you can leave your items. (Books must be left on the stage in Harris Hall.) We are NOT collecting, any clothing, shoes, CRT (tube type monitors or TVs), VHS tapes, cassettes, telephones, child-carriers, high-chairs, or other furniture this year).

2. offer to volunteer with set up or working at the bazaar. Contact Andrea Baumann (703)684-7023 for information or to volunteer.

Bake Sale at the Bazaar! Contribute to the Bazaar Bake sale. Do you have a favorite pie or cake recipe? Please consider baking one of your favorites to be sold at our bake table. Everything we create and sell is pure profit and reflects our love of our church and raises funds to support church efforts.

Continued Thanks... The Linn Foundation Grant has made all the new windows and lighting in Memorial Hall possible. The last portion isn’t complete—so more information will come. We continue to say thanks to the Trustees and those helping to complete the various projects. These include: Pastor Matthew, Bonnie and Charlie Crouch, Marykate, Sean, and Stephen Dougherty, Corwyn Havermans, Keith Sessions, and Margaret Taylor and others. The church office is already taking advantage of opening the windows to enjoy the cooler mornings! Hooray!

Blessing of the Animals Sunday, October 2 at 4pm Come to the corner of South Grant and 23rd Street on Sunday, October 2 at 4pm with your feathered, furry, or other non-human friends for the Blessing of the Animals. Flood Victim Mission Trip Mission Trip Over Columbus Day Holiday Weekend We will leave on Thursday, October 6 and return Sunday, October 9 (working on Friday and Saturday, October 7-8). The cost is $100 / person and is being coordinated through Appalachia Service Project. Participants will stay at a church and work in teams going to different locations. Learning For All Ages Sunday Morning

Online Book Group Are you interested in a study group, but timing is difficult? The on-line book group is beginning two new books! Callings, A StoryCorps Book by David Isay which looks at the purpose and passion of work and Carry On, Warrior: The Power of Embracing Your Messy, Beautiful Life by Glennon Doyle Melton is a touching look at being who we are, where we are. The format of the group is to receive an e-mail once a week with a starter question or thought. Participants in the group respond as they feel led (or not) to the whole group as we move through the book. For information, or to sign up, please contact Beth Posey at bposey@comcast.net.

Praying Wives Every morning, wives can receive an e-mail guiding towards loving God and loving our husbands. Today’s e-mail: “Do not remember the former things. Nor consider the things of old. Mini-Ministries There are many small jobs that happen every week, month, or seasonally at Calvary. Most only take a few minutes, some require more time. If you would like to be more involved in the life of the church (even in a very small way) please contact the church office and we’ll help you find that opportunity that’s waiting just for you.

Prayer Corner This is a space where prayers can be shared and lifted up. It will now provide the names of people or circumstances that are in need of prayer so that we can all pray for sorrows, joys, trials, and celebrations. The reason for prayer may not be included (for privacy considerations). If you would like to add a name to this list (please check to be sure it’s okay to share), please submit it in writing by using a prayer card during worship or sending an e-mail to admin@calmeth.org. Prayer Group Janet Kiel would love for anyone who is interested in starting a Calvary prayer group to join her in the Small Meeting Room (across from the Church Office) from 10-11am on Saturday, October 1.
